The old school building has these gorgeous high ceilings and massive windows that flood the place with light, which honestly makes even a rainy Cornwall morning feel pretty magical.

What struck me most was how they’ve kept the character without making it feel like some gimmicky theme hotel. You’ll notice the original features – the worn wooden floors have this perfect patina that speaks to decades of use, and there’s something oddly comforting about sleeping where kids once learned their multiplication tables. The conversion is smart too; they’ve created a proper living space that doesn’t feel cramped or awkward like some of these heritage conversions can. The kitchen setup is actually functional (I cooked pasta in there, no complaints), and the bed situation is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with Victorian-era springs all night.

Parking can be a bit of a dance in Fowey (it always is), but there’s usually something on the surrounding streets if you’re patient.
