Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Wisteria House on Beechwood Drive – it’s tucked away in this quiet residential street that you’d probably miss if you weren’t looking for it. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it perfect. Camelford isn’t one of those touristy Cornwall hotspots everyone talks about, which means you get authentic Cornish life without the summer crowds fighting for parking spaces down by the harbor.

The house itself is one of those solid, no-nonsense places that actually sleeps six people comfortably (I mean, really comfortably – not that thing where they count a pull-out sofa as proper sleeping space). The bedrooms are properly sized, and there’s this lovely lived-in feeling that makes you want to settle in with a cup of tea and plan your next day out. What really got me was the attention to practical details – decent shower pressure, a kitchen that’s actually equipped for cooking real meals, and enough space in the living area that you’re not all sitting on top of each other when the weather turns. The parking situation is straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around Cornwall’s narrow lanes will appreciate.

Location-wise, you’re about twenty minutes from Tintagel if you’re into the whole King Arthur thing, and Port Isaac (yeah, where they filmed Doc Martin) is close enough for a proper day out. But honestly, Camelford has its own charm – there’s a decent pub within walking distance, and the local shop stocks everything you’d actually need without having to drive to the big Tesco in Bodmin. The house sits in one of those neighborhoods where you hear birds instead of traffic, but you’re not so isolated that you feel cut off from civilization. I’d say it hits that sweet spot between peaceful retreat and practical base camp. It’s definitely earned that 4-star rating – everything works as it should, it’s clean and comfortable, and you get the sense that someone actually cares about the place rather than just seeing it as a rental income stream.

  Good size family home with quiet space for children (snug) and good garden for dog. Nicely decorated throughout. Large living room with many spaces to put dog bed. Beautiful dining space in kitchen for family meals. We didnt get the weather for a bbq but would have been a great option. Toy basket for the dog was a big hit with our labrador.
  
  What could be improved: Master bedroom mattress very soft for our liking which creates 'hump' in the middle.
