You know what caught me off guard about Whispering Waves? It’s that moment when you walk through the door and realize the sound of the ocean isn’t just background noise – it’s actually right there, like you could practically reach out and touch the waves from the living room window. I mean, I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim to be “beachfront,” but this apartment at 18 Seaspray genuinely delivers on that promise. The building sits right on Porthtowan’s sandy stretch, and honestly, you’re closer to the surf than some of the beach cafés down the road.

What really makes this place work is how lived-in it feels – not in a worn-out way, but like someone actually designed it for people who want to spend proper time here. The kitchen’s got everything you need if you grab fresh crab from the little seafood van that parks near the beach car park (usually there around 2 PM, by the way). The bedroom faces inland, which I was skeptical about at first, but it’s actually brilliant because you get proper sleep without the sound of early morning surfers gearing up. Though honestly, if you’re a light sleeper, you’ll still catch some of the nighttime waves – but it’s more soothing than disruptive, sort of like having a white noise machine that never switches off.

The whole setup feels like it’s designed by someone who gets Cornwall. There’s enough space to spread out on rainy days (and trust me, you’ll get a few), plus those little touches that matter – proper coffee mugs instead of tiny tourist ones, decent WiFi that actually works when you need to upload beach photos, and bathroom hooks positioned where you’d actually want them. Parking can be a bit of a dance during summer weekends – the Porthtowan car park fills up fast when the surf’s good – but having a dedicated spot makes all the difference. I’d definitely book this again, especially in shoulder season when you get the best of both worlds: decent weather and space to breathe on the beach. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra day just because leaving feels premature.

  Great location and lovely setting. Great to have a dedicated parking spot. 2 restaurants and one cafè next door, surf rental downstairs, playground a minute walk from the flat.

  Amazing location, beautiful sea views and sunset views. Cosy apartment, really well equipped. Free parking. So close to the beach, plus cafe, bar, pub. Stunning coastal walks. Excellent communication with host. Highly recommended, would definitely stay here again. Perfect!

  Stunning location. Loved the colour scheme. Very comfortable beds. Beautiful view despite the weather! Appreciated the Cornish biscuits, milk in the fridge and tea bags too after a long drive from London 🙂
