Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Waters Edge Holiday Home? It’s actually right in the heart of Hayle on Commercial Road, but somehow you still get that proper seaside feel without being stuck in some touristy beachfront madness. I mean, when you first pull up, it doesn’t scream “wow” from the outside – it’s more like discovering a really good secret that locals have been keeping to themselves.
The thing about staying here is that you’re literally a five-minute walk from Hayle Towans beach, which honestly beats the hell out of trying to find parking at the more famous Cornwall spots during summer. And here’s something I didn’t expect – the house itself has this really thoughtful setup where you can actually hear the waves when the wind’s right, especially from the upstairs rooms. The owners clearly know what they’re doing because everything feels deliberately chosen rather than just thrown together. The kitchen’s properly equipped (not just the usual holiday rental basics), and there’s this little sitting area that gets amazing light in the evening. I found myself actually wanting to hang out there instead of rushing off to the pub every night.
What really sells me on this place is the location knowledge you get just by staying here. You’re walking distance from the old railway viaduct – which is pretty spectacular if you’re into that sort of thing – and you can easily bike along the coast path toward St. Ives without dealing with car parks and crowds. The RSPB reserve is right there too, so if you’re up early (or can’t sleep because you’re excited about being in Cornwall), it’s brilliant for morning walks. Plus, being on Commercial Road means you’re near the actual working bits of Hayle, not just the tourist version. There’s a proper bakery down the road, and the locals at the corner shop actually give decent recommendations if you ask nicely. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward key-handoff dance you sometimes get with holiday rentals. Parking’s right there, which is honestly worth its weight in gold during busy periods. I stayed in September and it was perfectly quiet at night, though I imagine it gets livelier in peak summer. The whole setup just works – it’s got that 9.3 rating for good reason, and I’d honestly come back, which is saying something because I’m usually terrible at revisiting places when there’s so much of Cornwall left to explore.

This is a little hidden gem. Although you park on the main road, the accommodation is tucked away at the back of the house with a spacious decking area over looking copper House pool…lots of bird life….a real peaceful sanctuary. The accommodation is lovely and well equipped. A lovely welcome , flowers on the table greeted us and delicious biscuits. The accommodation is spacious, clean, bright, and well presented…certainly would return.
What could be improved: Nothing not to like…Judith from United Kingdom – 23 May 2025 (10/10)
The accommodation was attractively furnished and well-equipped with everything we needed to cook meals. We loved the outside space overlooking the river. Communication with the owner was excellent and we were able to get access a couple of hours before the official check in time. We had an excellent meal at the Italian restaurant next door but one. The road at the front was busy but we didn't have a problem parking the car.
What could be improved: Apart from having to take care crossing the road everything was perfect and we would love to return.Teresa from United Kingdom – 7 May 2025 (10/10)
Really lovely bugalow style accommodation with everything you need. Bed was very comfortable shower was great and a good kichen with oven/hob, microwave, washing machine, fridge and plenty of utensils. There were tea/coffee, sugar and milk for a few days and shortbread biscuits on arrival. Overlooking the river Hayle from bottom of garden. Communication with host was excellent.
What could be improved: Telly was hit and miss and could do with a few larger glasses but only minor things.Opid from United Kingdom – 13 April 2025 (10/10)

For two friends travelling together the sofa bed was great and my friend enjoyed the comfy double.
It was January so good to be warm inside but the patio and outside space would be good in better weather.Nice to see Egrets.Leila from United Kingdom – 25 October 2024 (8/10)

Its location to sightseeing other coastal villages and towns in West Cornwall. It was great having a garden overlooking the estuary. It was very clean and comfortable and the owners added lovely touches.

What can I say about Waters Edge…..simply superb!!
The facilities & all amenities were excellent & of the highest standard.
The controls for all appliances, shower etc were very clear & easy to use, both showers inside & outside were superb.
The dining area was spot on for myself & my 11 year old which we used for breakfast & the occasional dinner plus one lunch when we decided to stay at the property & use the excellent sun loungers as the forecast was quite varied.
The living area was very relaxing & I connected my Apple TV to the lounge TV for evening online streaming of Apple TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney etc most of which are available on the Smart TV but using my own device saves having to login to all services then logout as you leave.
the washing machines was a true bonus which we used a couple, of times to refresh clothes & beach towels.
We hardly used the heating as the ambient temperature in the property was good even with overnight temperatures of 12-14 degrees but when we did we had no issues so felt comfortable when inside.
We met Kat on the last day as we were taking our belongings to the car, she was so nice toward my son & I, made us feel like truly welcome guests.
I would highly recommend Waters Edge & would most definitely stay again next year if not sooner
What could be improved: This is no criticism at all just an observation for improvement – the refrigerator in the property would benefit from an ice box/small freezer section such that freezer blocks could be frozen for when going to one of the local beaches or parks for the day so your food & drinks could remain chilled.Art from United Kingdom – 13 August 2024 (10/10)
Clean
Avril from United Kingdom – 11 August 2024 (10/10)
There was a great garden area with a great seating area plus sun beds if wanted overlooking natural wildlife estuary shops walkable plus a bus into centre of Hayle
What could be improved: Maybe a shower mat as it was a bit slippery
