The location is absolutely spot-on, and I mean that in the best possible way. You’re tucked away in proper countryside, but Bude’s stunning coastline is just a short drive away — we’re talking about some of Cornwall’s most dramatic cliffs and those wide sandy beaches that stretch for miles. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets here in the evenings. No traffic noise, just the occasional sheep and that wonderful countryside silence you can’t get in town. The property sits on working farmland, so there’s something quite grounding about waking up to actual farm sounds rather than car alarms.

The Room Experience

My room was in one of the converted barns, and they’ve done such a thoughtful job with the renovation. The exposed beams and stone walls give you that authentic Cornish farmhouse feel, but everything else — the bathroom, the heating, the Wi-Fi — works exactly as it should. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m quite particular about mattresses), and there’s plenty of space to spread out your things. What struck me most was the attention to detail — good quality linens, decent lighting for reading, and windows that actually open properly for fresh air.

Practical Comforts

The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward — plenty of space right outside, which is brilliant when you’re hauling luggage or planning day trips along the coast. There’s also a lovely communal area where you can grab tea and coffee throughout the day, and honestly, it becomes a nice spot to chat with other guests or just sit with a book. The staff here really know their stuff about the local area too. They pointed me toward some walking routes I never would have found on my own, including a fantastic coastal path that leads to these hidden coves near Widemouth Bay.
