You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Treworgie Barton – honestly, the name sounds like something out of a farming manual. But this place absolutely knocked my socks off. It’s tucked away in these converted farm buildings just outside Bude, and I mean properly tucked away – you’ll definitely want your GPS working because the narrow lanes can get a bit confusing once you leave the main road. The setting is just incredible though, all rolling green fields and that distinctly Cornish countryside vibe where you can actually hear yourself think.

The cottage I stayed in (Trespaddick) felt like someone’s incredibly stylish grandmother had decorated it – if that grandmother happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget. Everything’s been restored beautifully but they’ve kept all the character bits that matter, like the exposed beams and thick stone walls that keep things lovely and cool even on warm days. The kitchen’s actually functional too, which you can’t always count on with these heritage properties – I mean, I was able to prep a proper breakfast with local eggs from the farm shop down the road. What really got me was the attention to detail everywhere… quality linens, proper heating that works instantly, and thank god, really good wifi because even on holiday you sometimes need to check emails, right?

Being this close to Bude means you’re maybe ten minutes from some seriously good beaches – Summerleaze is the obvious choice but honestly, if you’ve got a car, head up to Crooklets or even further to Widemouth Bay where the surfers hang out. The location works brilliantly because you get that proper countryside quiet (I’m talking dead silent at night except for the occasional sheep), but you’re not stranded miles from civilization. There’s decent parking right at the property, which matters more than you’d think when you’re hauling suitcases and beach gear around. The whole setup just feels genuinely relaxing – no pretentious spa nonsense or over-the-top luxury that makes you afraid to touch anything. Just really well-done accommodation that lets you properly unwind and explore this gorgeous bit of North Cornwall at your own pace.

  Beautiful location, very reasonably priced, immaculately clean, everything you need is provided with good quality appliances, excellent communication via message and phone, stunning scenery, really comfortable bed and pillows, info booklet about the property and things to do nearby which was really helpful, I could go on and on! Just excellent!
  
  What could be improved: If I had to be really picky, and it didn’t affect our stay in the slightest we couldn’t find the back outside light. I’m sure if we’d asked, the owners would have been more than willing to help but it was very late at night that we noticed and we forgot to ask the next day so it was really not an issue. Maybe a TV in the bedroom but that’s just our preference.

  Amazing property. Had everything we needed. The location was beautiful, gorgeous views and so peaceful. We only stayed 2 days, wish it was longer. Lovely place. Beautiful places to visit nearby.

  For that exceptional mini break away from your hectic work life, Treworgie couldn't have offered more. What a location!
  
  What could be improved: Due to space restrictions, the shower attachment had to be handheld and being slightly taller than average, this proved to be a frustrating issue. So, I ran a bath, well attempted to. The water flow rate and temperature were abysmal. Nothing wrong with the flow for the sink and the temperature of that was blistering. I did mention it to the host and he duly noted my one and only, reluctant criticism.

  Everything there is amazing , starting from stuff witch was nice and helpfull, house is amazing with not typical design inside specially for kids, clean with everything what you need, everything fresh, nice area outside to drink morning coffe, space for dogs , kids play area for raining days , my english is to poor to describe how nice was there but I highly recommend stay there.
  
  What could be improved: Only thing what we wasnt happy is fact that stay there gone very fast

  Loved everything, immaculate, cosy, equipped with everything you need and more. The owners were so friendly. Local pub amazing staff and food amazing. The views were breathtaking. Peaceful and rural. Definitely going back.
