Hotel Description
You know what hits you first at Trevose? It’s not just the sea views – though honestly, they’re pretty spectacular – it’s how quiet everything gets once you’re actually there. I mean, Port Isaac can get absolutely mental during tourist season (especially if you’re into Doc Martin), but up here in Trelights, it’s like you’ve found this little pocket of calm that most people miss entirely.
The place itself is one of those converted properties that actually got it right. The rooms feel properly spacious, not like someone just subdivided a Victorian house with plasterboard and called it a day. What really surprised me was how well they’ve positioned everything to catch those sea views – you’ll find yourself just standing at the window with your morning coffee, watching the light change over the water. The owner clearly knows this coastline inside and out, because they’ve thought about things like where to put the seating so you’re not squinting into the sun all afternoon. Small detail, but it matters when you’re trying to relax with a book.
Parking’s actually sorted here too, which – if you’ve ever tried to navigate Port Isaac’s medieval streets with a car – you’ll appreciate more than you might expect. The walk down to the harbor takes maybe fifteen minutes if you’re not in a rush, and honestly, that’s perfect timing. Close enough that you can easily pop down for dinner at one of the restaurants (the Golden Lion’s decent if you can get a table), but far enough that you’re not dealing with the crowds and the tour buses. Plus, you’re right on the South West Coast Path, so if you’re into walking, you can head off toward Tintagel or back around to Polzeath without having to think about transport. I’d say the stretch toward Delabole’s particularly good if you want something a bit more challenging – proper clifftop stuff with views that’ll make your Instagram followers properly jealous.
What really sells it though is that this isn’t trying to be some fancy boutique place with unnecessary frills. It’s just really well done – comfortable beds, decent shower pressure, and everything works like it should. The kind of place where you can tell someone’s put thought into the guest experience without making a big show of it. That 9.4 rating makes sense when you’re there, because it’s hitting all the practical stuff while giving you that proper Cornwall coastal feeling. Worth booking early if you’re planning a summer visit – places like this that actually get the balance right tend to fill up pretty quickly once word gets around.

Beautiful accommodation and surroundings. We couldn't get enough of the beautiful view. Sunsets made our evenings. The apartment was very spacious and clean. The host Julia was friendly and very helpful.
Martin from United Kingdom – 30 November 2024 (8/10)
Quietness of location & views.
Size of property & layout.
Wood burner & basket of logs. Bottle of milk & Prosseco.
Good Wi-fi. Very clean.
What could be improved: Lack of general items that we’d normally expect in a cottage stay (eg. Cling film, foil wrap, oil for cooking).
A coffee machine would be nice rather than sachets of Nescafé.
For the size of the bedroom, the bed could be larger, plus it is very, very low !
Struggled with the “Smart TV”… very frustrating.
Amazon Prime was signed into a Dutch person & language was Dutch. Eventually managed to get in but took an age. Also BBC Iplayer loaded in Welsh.. couldn’t fathom this one out so couldn’t use – annoying !Julie from United Kingdom – 23 September 2024 (10/10)

Lovely view just like the pictures. Sheep and lambs just outside the windows. Great log burner and comfortable settees. Kitchen was well equipped.
What could be improved: Second bathroom is only a toilet. I should have read the details more closely.
