Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Trenython Manor Resort in Fowey, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The building itself is this gorgeous Georgian manor that’s been converted into a resort, and you can tell they’ve put serious money into making it feel both historic and modern at the same time. It sits right on the edge of Fowey (which locals pronounce “Foy,” by the way – don’t make that tourist mistake), and honestly, the location is pretty much perfect if you want to explore the South Cornwall coast without dealing with the absolute chaos of somewhere like St. Ives in summer.
What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to keep that manor house feel without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a museum. The rooms are actually spacious – none of that cramped British hotel nonsense – and they’ve got these massive windows that look out over the estuary. You know what I loved? The fact that you can hear the water lapping against the shore from most rooms, but you’re not getting woken up by seagulls at dawn like you would right in Fowey town center. The staff genuinely seems to know the area too, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about hiking the coastal path, the woman at reception didn’t just hand me a generic leaflet – she actually told me which sections get muddy after rain and suggested starting from Readymoney Cove instead of the main town if I wanted fewer crowds.
The whole property has this relaxed, slightly upscale vibe that works really well for couples or honestly anyone who wants to feel a bit pampered without the stuffiness of a five-star place. Parking is included (thank god, because finding a spot in Fowey proper is basically impossible during peak season), and you’re close enough to walk into town for dinner but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the summer tourist madness. I mean, Fowey gets absolutely packed in July and August, but staying at Trenython means you can retreat back to your own little bubble. The spa facilities are solid – nothing groundbreaking, but the pool area is lovely and the treatment rooms actually feel like a splurge. Really, what sold me on this place was how it manages to feel both like a proper getaway and a great base for exploring the Eden Project, the coastal villages, or even day trips over to Padstow. It’s that sweet spot where you’re getting genuine quality without feeling like you’re paying London prices for everything.

Breakfast was lovely
What could be improved: Menu choice in the evening could have been a little bit more as after staying four nights having a limited menu means you eat elsewhere.
Also wedding on the Saturday meant limited access to bar and noise coming up into bedroom. If we had been pre warned we would have spent the night elsewhere and returned later in the evening.Anthony from United Kingdom – 22 June 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: There was no lift, and with number of stairs to 1st floor, carrying luggage was unfortunate!

The room was comfortable and spacious. We appreciated the space and the access to the terrace.
What could be improved: The floor coverings were stained in some areas and looked tired. With a 5 star rating we would also have expected a safe in the room. Small details (like combined shampoo and conditioner) cheapened the experience.
The pool was also difficult to access – booking was not a smooth process (why are bookings necessary?)Hilary from United Kingdom – 13 June 2025 (9/10)
All very good easy booking, finding location, checking in and out
What could be improved: All goodLes from United Kingdom – 13 June 2025 (9/10)
We liked the fact we had a patio area right outside our room and it was quiet
What could be improved: We were fine with the pay as you go service cor meals and bar but found it unusual as most places we can add it to our room and pay at the end. However it wouldn't stop us staying again .Gage from United Kingdom – 12 June 2025 (9/10)
This is an impressive hotel in Cornwall. We loved it here. Manor house with great staircse High ceilings in the rooms, small flat screen tv and see view. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel were lovely. Their are great walks and a poole onsite.

I really enjoyed the old building, the swimming pool and spectacular views! The restaurant was also very nice and good food.
What could be improved: The view from the room was to a small building wall, felt like I could be seen.Christine from United Kingdom – 9 June 2025 (9/10)
excellent accommodation, very clean and to have milk, juice bread etc waiting for us was beyond our expectations. Lovely swimming pool too. You can park right at your cottage and it is beautifully laid out around the park
What could be improved: not much to do for young children, quite rural but we did know that. There is a woodland play area which was good but muddy as it was raining, not that anyone can help the rain!
