Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Trelaske Mill Cider Barn, I wasn’t entirely sure I was in the right place. You’re driving through proper Cornwall countryside near Lewannick (which, by the way, most people mispronounce), and suddenly there’s this beautifully converted mill building that somehow manages to feel both rustic and surprisingly luxurious. The gravel crunches under your car as you park, and you can actually hear the stream that once powered the mill – it’s one of those details that makes you realize this place has serious history, not just Instagram appeal.

What really gets me about this spot is how they’ve nailed the balance between authentic character and modern comfort. The hot tub sits outside like it’s always belonged there, steam rising into the Cornish air while you soak and listen to absolutely nothing but countryside sounds. I mean, you’re about ten minutes from Launceston if you need proper shops or a decent pub meal at The Springer Spaniel (which you should definitely try), but honestly, you might not want to leave. The fire pit becomes the evening’s entertainment – there’s something primal about cooking over actual flames while wrapped in one of their thick blankets, watching stars appear over the moors. The BBQ setup is proper too, not some flimsy thing that’ll collapse if you look at it wrong.

The barn itself feels like someone’s very stylish friend converted it for their own use, then decided to share it. Everything works – and I say this as someone who’s stayed in “charming” places where the shower barely dribbles and the Wi-Fi is theoretical. Here, the heating keeps you cozy even when October winds are howling outside, the kitchen has everything you’d actually want to use, and surprisingly for rural Cornwall, the internet connection doesn’t make you want to throw your laptop out the window. You know what really impressed me though? The attention to details that matter when you’re trying to unwind. Proper blackout in the bedrooms, a coffee setup that doesn’t require an engineering degree, and enough space that you’re not tripping over each other if you’re traveling with friends or family. It’s about fifteen minutes to Bodmin Moor if you fancy dramatic walks and wild ponies, or you can just stay put and soak in that hot tub until your fingers wrinkle. With a 9.6 rating, I expected it to be good – I just didn’t expect to find myself already planning when I could come back before I’d even checked out.

  The whole place is beautiful. It is immaculate. The hosts were so friendly, left us our space, and when we needed anything, we were always happy yo help us. Also, some amazing homemade scones jam and cream were given when we arrived. They also had the hot tub heated for us when we arrived and did the same the next day when we went out in the day!

  Much larger than it seems, fitted to a high standard throughout and they have thought of everything, you could stay self catering for 2weeks no problem

  We had an amazing stay at Trelaske Mill Cider Barn with the hot tub, fire pit, and BBQ! Helen and Richard were the most wonderful hosts—so welcoming and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The property itself was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and set in the most stunning surroundings. We also took Helen's recommendation to visit the local butcher for the BBQ, and the meat was absolutely delicious, with great service to match. We can't wait to return and see you both again. Keep up the fantastic work!

  Clean cosy and beautifully restorated. Outdoor wood burning hot tub was amazing. Really spacious and really well decorated. Hosts were amazing. Helped everyday with the hot tub and responded to any questions throughout the stay within minutes. And were very helpful overall.

  The property was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed for a few nights stay.
  Lovely quiet location, we love a drive so we were happy to drive to the places we wanted to see. The hot tub was checked daily and was very clean. The lovely hosts were always available if we had any queries or questions. We had a lovely welcome package with all the essential food bits we needed. We would highly recommend.
