Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Trelaske Manor? It’s not just another B&B that’s been converted from some old house – this place actually feels like you’re staying in someone’s cherished family estate, which honestly, you sort of are. The manor sits just outside Lewannick (about ten minutes from Launceston if you’re driving), and I mean properly outside – you’ll wind through those narrow Cornish lanes wondering if your GPS has lost its mind before you spot the stone gateposts. But that’s half the charm, really. The building itself is this gorgeous Georgian manor that’s been lovingly restored without losing any of its character. When you walk into the entrance hall, there’s this immediate sense of stepping back in time, but in the best possible way – think original flagstone floors and period features, not dusty museum vibes.

The rooms are genuinely lovely, and I’m someone who’s pretty picky about accommodation. Mine had this massive sash window that looked out over the grounds (proper grounds, not just a patch of grass), and the bed was one of those you actually don’t want to get out of in the morning. The bathroom was surprisingly modern – they’ve clearly put thought into updating the practical bits without ruining the historic feel. What really sets this place apart though is the attention to detail. Fresh flowers in the room, locally sourced everything at breakfast, and the kind of peace and quiet you just can’t find in town. I mean, the only sounds at night were the occasional sheep and maybe an owl if you’re lucky.

Breakfast deserves its own mention because it’s honestly exceptional – proper Cornish bacon, eggs from their own hens, and homemade preserves that’ll spoil you for anywhere else. The hosts know their stuff too; they pointed me toward this brilliant little pub in Altarnun that I never would have found otherwise, and gave me the inside track on avoiding the crowds at Tintagel (go early or late, apparently). The whole experience feels wonderfully authentic, which is refreshing when so many places feel a bit manufactured these days. Sure, it’s not cheap, and you definitely need a car to make the most of the location, but if you’re looking for that proper English countryside experience without the tourist bus crowds, this is exactly what you want. Plus, you’re perfectly positioned for exploring both the northern coast and Bodmin Moor – though honestly, you might find yourself just wanting to stay put and enjoy the peace of the place.

  • Kim from United Kingdom – 8 June 2025 (10/10)

The location was stunning once we found it with the Sat Nav down the small country lanes. Really quiet and picturesque garden, shame we couldn’t enjoy it too it’s full potential due to the poor weather. ☔️ The hosts Mark and Paula were extremely welcoming and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The breakfast was great and plentiful. The property was very clean and comfortable, especially loving the towels in the bathroom that were big and fluffy was like being at home! We are definitely going to stay here again and will definitely recommend for others to stay here too!

We also checked out the local pub – The Archers Arms which was very welcoming also and great, yummy food! Definitely a must visiting when staying here! 😋

What could be improved: That we couldn’t stay longer due to work commitments! 🤣

,Beautiful location,, so quiet and tranquil. We stayed in suite 2, overlooking fields and sheep, lovely.
Spotlessy clean throughout. The breakfast was great, freshly cooked to however you prefer it.
Would definitely go back, it was a step off the world, we loved it.

What could be improved: Shower a bit slow to run away, nice shower though.
