Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Tregurrian Villas, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The address just says “Newquay” which is pretty vague, but it’s actually tucked away in a quieter spot that feels properly Cornish without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. You know that sweet spot where you can still hear the ocean but you’re not dealing with the madness of the main Newquay strip? That’s exactly where this place sits.

What really got me was how the villas are set up – they’ve got this sort of relaxed, residential feel that makes you forget you’re staying at what’s technically a 4-star place. I mean, don’t get me wrong, everything’s well-maintained and thoughtfully done, but there’s none of that stuffy hotel atmosphere that makes you feel like you need to whisper in the lobby. The rooms have proper space to spread out (honestly, such a relief after some of those cramped seaside places), and the kitchenettes are actually functional – not just for show. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because, well, why not? Plus the local Tesco isn’t far if you need supplies, though I’d recommend hitting up one of the farm shops instead if you’ve got time.

The location really shines once you get your bearings. You’re close enough to Newquay’s beaches that it’s an easy trip when you want the full seaside experience, but far enough out that you can actually sleep at night without drunk surfers stumbling around outside. The coastal path is practically on your doorstep, which is brilliant if you’re into those dramatic clifftop walks Cornwall does so well – and honestly, even if you’re not usually a hiking person, the views will convert you. The 7.7 rating feels about right; it’s solidly good without being flashy about it. Staff are genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. I suppose if I had to nitpick, the WiFi can be a bit temperamental when the weather’s rough, but that’s pretty standard for this part of Cornwall. Really though, if you’re spending your time staring at screens instead of those incredible sunsets over the Atlantic, you’re missing the point entirely.

  The location of the house is amazing! Just a quick walk down to the beach.
  There are a lot of places to eat a quick lunch or take outs. There are 2 nice restaurants over looking the beach.
  We did beautiful coastal walks to Newquay and Mawgan Porth. We even attended yoga classes at The Zen Den which offers a lovely view of Watergate beach.

  Great house with plenty of room to relax and would definitely visit again. Kitchen is super with all that you need.
