You know what struck me first about this place? The name actually undersells it. Yeah, it’s a 4-bedroom bungalow with a large garden, but “Tranquil” doesn’t quite capture how genuinely peaceful Willowcroft feels once you’re tucked away on Laity Lane. I mean, Carbis Bay can get pretty hectic during peak season – all those families heading to the beach with their gear – but this spot feels like you’ve found a secret corner that somehow missed the memo about being a tourist hotspot.

The garden is honestly the star here. It’s not just “large,” it’s the kind of space where you can actually spread out without feeling like you’re on top of your neighbors. Perfect for families who need kids to burn off energy, or honestly, just for sitting with your morning coffee before the rest of Carbis Bay wakes up. The parking situation is a godsend too – and I say this as someone who’s spent way too much time circling around TR26 looking for a spot that doesn’t involve a fifteen-minute hike with luggage. You’re close enough to walk down to Carbis Bay beach (maybe ten minutes if you’re not rushing), but far enough up the lane that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of day-trippers walking past your window.

What really gets me about this bungalow is how it strikes that balance between being properly equipped and not feeling overly fancy. The four bedrooms mean groups don’t have to play musical beds, and there’s actually space to exist without bumping into each other constantly. The local buses run pretty regularly along the main road if you want to pop into St. Ives proper, though honestly, the walk along the coast path is half the point of staying here. That 9.7 rating makes sense when you’re there – it’s those little things like having enough hot water for everyone, decent WiFi that actually works, and kitchen basics that don’t make you want to immediately drive to the nearest Tesco. I will say the lane can be a bit narrow if you’re not used to Cornish roads, but once you’re settled in, you sort of forget about the outside world anyway.
