Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name “Three Little Pigs,” I was expecting something a bit gimmicky, maybe one of those themed places that tries too hard. But this little gem tucked away in Launcells actually surprised me in the best way possible. The converted barn setting works so much better than it sounds on paper, and you know what? The 9.7 rating isn’t just inflated review scores – people genuinely love this place.

Getting there is half the adventure, honestly. You’re driving through proper Cornish countryside, past those stone walls that seem to go on forever, and suddenly you’re at 3 Lower Pigsdon Barns. The parking situation is actually pretty good (which matters more than you’d think when you’re hauling luggage), and the whole property has this authentic farmhouse feel without being rustic to the point of inconvenience. I mean, you’ve still got proper Wi-Fi and decent showers – it’s not like you’re roughing it. The rooms have that converted barn character with exposed beams and thick walls that actually keep things quiet, even when there are other guests around.

What really sets this place apart is the location – you’re close enough to Bude that you can easily get to the coast (maybe fifteen minutes by car), but far enough out that you feel like you’ve escaped somewhere properly peaceful. The owners clearly know the area well, and they’re the type who’ll tell you about the footpath that cuts down to the village or which pub actually does decent food. Launcells itself is tiny – blink and you’ll miss it – but there’s something charming about staying somewhere that feels authentically local rather than designed for tourists. The church there is worth a quick look if you’re into that sort of thing, and the countryside walks are genuinely lovely if the weather cooperates. Mornings are particularly nice – you get that proper country quiet, maybe some bird sounds, and if you’re lucky, that soft light that makes Cornwall look like a postcard. Just don’t expect much nightlife; this is more about unwinding than partying. For what it is – a peaceful, well-run place with character and genuine charm – Three Little Pigs delivers exactly what it promises.

  Location was ideal, and easy to find with directions. We had everything we needed for a wonderful short break away. Bed was super comfortable and the Easter presents and fudge was amazing!
