What I found instead was this beautifully understated four-star property that sits perfectly along Penzance‘s coastline. The building itself has this elegant, contemporary feel without trying too hard, and you know what really impressed me? The fact that they’ve got free private parking right on site — which, if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near the Cornish coast during summer, you’ll understand is basically gold.

Location & Views

The location is honestly spectacular, and I can see why couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways. You’re literally steps from the South West Coast Path, which means those dramatic clifftop walks are right at your doorstep. Mount’s Bay stretches out in front of you, and on clear days — well, the views toward St Michael’s Mount are the kind that make you stop mid-conversation. I mean, you’re close enough to the town center that you can easily walk to the shops and restaurants, but far enough out that you actually feel like you’re escaping from it all.

The Room Experience

My room was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame those coastal views I mentioned. The décor strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and seaside charm — nothing too nautical or themed, just clean lines and quality furnishings. What really stood out was the attention to detail: proper blackout curtains (essential when you want to sleep in after those long coastal walks), excellent Wi-Fi throughout, and a bathroom that actually feels like a retreat rather than an afterthought.

While The Penthouse doesn’t have its own restaurant, this actually works in your favor because Penzance has some fantastic dining options within walking distance. The Bakehouse Restaurant is just a short stroll away, and honestly, their seafood is some of the best I’ve had in Cornwall. Plus, being right on the coast means you’re getting the freshest catch — the local fishermen bring their boats in just down the road at Newlyn, which is practically next door.
