Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to The Manor – I mean, it’s tucked away on this working farm outside Woodford, and the approach feels more like you’re visiting someone’s countryside estate than checking into a hotel. But that’s exactly what makes this place so brilliant, actually. The building itself is this gorgeous converted manor house that somehow manages to feel both grand and homey at the same time, with those thick stone walls and mullioned windows that you know have seen centuries of stories.

What really gets me about The Manor is how they’ve nailed that balance between proper luxury and genuine countryside charm. The rooms are beautifully done – think original beams and period features, but with seriously comfortable beds and bathrooms that actually work (you know how some of these old places can be with water pressure). I stayed in October and could hear the occasional sheep from the surrounding fields, which was oddly soothing rather than annoying. The staff really know their stuff too – they’re locals who can tell you the best walking routes along the coast path to Bude, or which pub in Woodford actually serves decent food on a Tuesday night. Speaking of Bude, it’s only about ten minutes by car, but feels like a world away when you’re sitting in The Manor’s gardens with a cup of tea.

The thing that sealed it for me was the breakfast – proper farm-fresh eggs, bacon that’s actually been cured properly, and bread that hasn’t seen the inside of a plastic bag. Plus, there’s ample parking (always a relief in Cornwall), and they don’t make a fuss about muddy boots if you’ve been out exploring the coastal paths. I’ll be honest, it’s not cheap, but for a 4-star place with a 9.6 rating, you’re getting exactly what you pay for – that rare combination of genuine character and modern comfort that’s nearly impossible to find these days. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels like a proper escape without sacrificing the creature comforts, The Manor hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Exceptional accommodation and location. Perfect for our family holiday. The swimming pool was immaculate and warm. The grounds were well thought out with a very well equipped games room and the farm animals were such a lovely addition to the holiday.

We stayed at the Manor House. It was so spacious and a brilliant house for a large family gathering. The children loved the swimming pool and the soft play. We joined with other families to feed the animals which was a great experience. We even managed to book a separate visit with the owners daughter to groom a pony. The children loved this experience and the owners should be very proud of their daughter.

Our family has just spent a weekend at Woodlands Manor Farm and had a truly wonderful stay. The accommodation and facilities were first-class, and the warm welcome from Andy and his family was delightful. My son and daughter especially loved the animals and the large heated pool. The location is ideal for exploring Bude, as well as numerous beaches and other attractions.

  • Kim from United Kingdom – 27 December 2024 (10/10)

The house was beautiful and very spacious! We filled every room and it didn’t feel like anyone was on top of each other!

  • Roselyn from Australia – 13 May 2024 (10/10)

The 6 bedroom manor was ideal for all of us, 10 adults and 5 babies, big bathrooms, three lounge areas, the access to the pool, games room, lovely at a in kitchen, would be lovely to spend a family Christmas in, but it's booked up unfortunately. But really lovely grade 2 listed building, grandchildren loved the animal feeding in the mornings.

What could be improved: Not close to beach

  • Kelly from United Kingdom – 14 April 2024 (9/10)

Amazing house, was really great for the children (great for a game of hide and seek!) pool and games room are brilliant, and all the animals are so nice to see. Ruth and Andrew were fabulous hosts. Beautiful location, and we loved exploring the woods. The kitchen was really well equipped and everything was very homely, massive dining table and lots of room for all of us to enjoy

What could be improved: Very little to write here, but only comments would be a few more teaspoons could be useful, and also perhaps some more signage in the woods to help show appropriate routes…very minor things but could make it even more incredible!

  • Mikyla from United Kingdom – 23 June 2022 (10/10)

Accommodation was lovely, very spacious and homley the facilities were fantastic. My 20month old loved the pool and games room.. The owners were friendly and helpful. Everything we needed was provided. Feeding the animals was a lovely experience. Would 100% recommend. Would definitely go back!

What could be improved: Nothing, but the chairs in the manor need felt pads on the bottom as they make a racket when you pull the out. But didn't affect our stay.

  • Kirsty from United Kingdom – 6 February 2025 (9/10)

So much space!!!! Large rooms, very clean, great heated pool and games room. Loved the Animal feeding on Sunday morning. Owners were very friendly and both came to say hello, contacted about the heating system when it didn't turn on and they sorted it very quickly.

What could be improved: Need to slightly cut back the bush outside the Manor front door as we missed the cottage name at first. But we LOVED everything about our stay!

  • Sharon from United Kingdom – 12 September 2023 (8/10)

The location, games room, pool, house was very comfortable

What could be improved: There was no milk, coffee tea or sugar on arrival. Every accommodation I have stayed in has had a welcome pack i.e cake, wine and basics for a drink on arrival. The manor did not have anything, after a 6/7 hour drive a hot drink would have been appreciated
