Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about The Lighthouse Penthouse? It’s actually perched right where you’d want to be in St. Ives – close enough to hear the seagulls and catch glimpses of the harbor, but far enough up that you’re not dealing with the summer crowds trampling past your window at 7 AM. The building itself has this weathered Cornish charm that feels authentic rather than touristy, if that makes sense. When I walked in, honestly, the space felt bigger than I expected from the photos – these old Cornwall buildings can be deceptively roomy once you’re inside. The studio layout works really well, actually, with enough separation between the sleeping area and living space that it doesn’t feel cramped even when the weather keeps you indoors (which, let’s be real, happens in Cornwall).
What I really appreciated was how thoughtfully everything was set up for people who actually want to stay and explore rather than just crash for a night. The kitchen has proper equipment – I mean, you can actually cook a decent meal here instead of just heating up soup. There’s good storage space for all the layers you’ll inevitably accumulate (trust me, you’ll need them), and the Wi-Fi is solid enough for those inevitable work calls or uploading photos. The view situation is genuinely lovely, especially if you time it right – early morning coffee with a harbor view is pretty hard to beat. I found myself just sitting by the window more than I usually do in rentals. The area around here gets busy during peak season, obviously, but the building stays relatively quiet. You’re about a five-minute walk down to the main harbor area where all the galleries and cafes cluster, but it’s an easy stroll back up even with shopping bags or after a proper Cornish pasty lunch.
The whole experience feels less like staying in someone’s investment property and more like borrowing a friend’s place – everything works properly, it’s clean without being sterile, and there are thoughtful touches that suggest the owners actually care about the guest experience. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in St. Ives (it always is), but they’ve got that sorted with clear instructions that actually work. Check-in was straightforward, no weird key-hiding situations or confusing codes. Honestly, for a 4-star place with a 9.2 rating, it delivers on both comfort and location without feeling overpriced or pretentious. If you’re planning to use St. Ives as a base for exploring the coast or you just want to sink into the town’s rhythm for a few days, this place gets the balance right – comfortable enough to truly relax, positioned well enough to make the most of your time, and welcoming enough that you’ll probably find yourself planning a return visit before you’ve even checked out.

Great location for exploring Cornwall and has everything you need in the apartment, you can see the sea in the distance with a lighthouse. It's got a very comfy bed and the decor is great.
What could be improved: A long stair case to get up and the apartment and the bedroom could have darker curtains as the sunshine woke us up early in the morningDaniel from United Kingdom – 15 June 2025 (10/10)
Lovely little apartment, very well equipped. It was perfect for me and my son. Had a week there, it was a great stay. Would come back.

Lovely Apartment. Quiet location. Downhill walk into St.Ives – about 20 minutes. Always taxis available to come back up the hill for about £5. St Ives is really nice with lots of quality restaurants and pubs.
