Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled down the narrow lane to Treliggon Farm – honestly, the GPS had me second-guessing myself for the last few miles through the Cornish countryside. But then you see The Cottage tucked into this working farm near Lanivet, and it just clicks. This isn’t some sanitized country retreat – it’s the real deal, complete with sheep wandering the adjacent fields and that particular quiet you only get when you’re properly away from everything.

The cottage itself feels like someone’s beloved family home that they’ve reluctantly agreed to share (in the best possible way). I mean, the kitchen still has that lived-in warmth where you can picture generations making proper Cornish pasties, and the sitting room has those deep sofas that actually let you sink in and read a book without your back aching. What really got me was the attention to details that matter – thick towels that don’t feel like sandpaper, a shower with actual water pressure, and windows that open properly when you want that fresh country air. The bedroom upstairs has these lovely exposed beams, though taller folks might want to mind their heads on the way up.

Location-wise, you’re about fifteen minutes from Bodmin if you need supplies, but honestly, the joy here is in not needing to go anywhere. The farm setting means you’ll wake up to actual birdsong instead of traffic, and if you’re lucky, you might catch the farmer doing his rounds – there’s something oddly soothing about watching someone who clearly knows their land inside and out. The owners have managed to strike that perfect balance between giving you privacy and being genuinely helpful when needed. They left local recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots – little gems like the woodland walk that starts just past the barn, or which pub in the village actually does decent food (spoiler: it’s The Crown, not the flashier place on the main road). Parking’s never an issue, obviously, and you’re close enough to both the coast and Dartmoor for day trips, though I found myself reluctant to leave. The cottage has this way of slowing you down in the best possible sense – suddenly you’re noticing how the light changes throughout the day and actually finishing that book you’ve been carrying around for months.

The front garden equipment with nice garden furniture & parasol – perfect space for all 5 to enjoy. All 5 of us were able to switch off and enjoy the stay with plenty to do!

    Clean and tidy accommodation.
    Spacious and peaceful.
Great games room for the kids.
Would definitely stay again. Good location for the Eden Project (20-minute drive) and only half an hour to the coast.

Its a lovely place in the perfect location for us to go to a wedding at the Boconnion Estate. Great layout, easy parking, very clean.

  • Linda from United Kingdom – 20 September 2024 (10/10)

We were left a goody basket, milk in the fridge, tea coffee and sugar which we were not expecting. That was a lovely surprise. Home made cake included. Wine beer crisps cookies. Beautiful cottage. Great beds. Great facilities. Lovely location. Meet Ollie which was nice. Shall recommend to family and friends. Wish we had booked for longer.

What could be improved: Nothing could have been done better. Everything was excellent. There wasn’t anything to dislike.

Fabulous holiday home. Welcome basket and fresh milk in the fridge was very much welcomed on arrival after the long drive. Such a beautiful property with space for us all to spread out and not be tripping over each other. Two showers stopped the kids arguing about who was showering first. Games room was such a lovely treat for a bit of friendly ‘loser does the dishes’ at the end of the day.

What could be improved: I can’t think of any negatives.

  • Ian from United Kingdom – 9 July 2024 (9/10)

Location, games room , property , our uninvited guest (the bat) and our very helpful and accommodating hosts who helped get the bat to a wildlife centre . The goodies in the hamper was a nice touch particularly the fresh farm eggs and homemade brownies.

What could be improved: The weather , some of the small lanes although all the farmers were very good in letting us pass , local wildlife (Birds) tapping on the roof on the first night but all of the above had no problems with our lovely first visit to Cornwall and what you may expect when living in the country .

  • Paul from United Kingdom – 8 April 2024 (10/10)

Great property, had everything we needed with the added bonus of the games room.
The welcome basket was very thoughtful and the hosts were very informative.
The property was spotlessly clean and we couldn’t fault a thing.
    Would definitely stay again 🙂
