Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about The Cottage? It’s actually tucked away in Little Trembroath in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered some well-kept secret. I mean, Stithians isn’t exactly on everyone’s Cornwall radar – it’s sort of nestled between the more obvious coastal spots – but that’s honestly what makes this place special. The 9.6 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen; when you pull up to this 4-star spot, you immediately get why people rave about it. There’s something about the way it sits in the landscape that just feels… right. Not trying too hard, not pretending to be a grand estate, just genuinely charming in that effortless Cornish way.
The thing about staying here is that you’re close enough to hit the coast (honestly, you’re about fifteen minutes from some really lovely bits of shoreline that tourists often miss), but far enough inland that you get this peaceful, almost pastoral vibe that’s hard to find during busy season. I loved how quiet it gets in the evenings – you can actually hear the countryside settling down for the night, which sounds cheesy but is surprisingly restorative after months of city noise. The cottage itself has that lived-in quality that makes you want to curl up with a book, though the WiFi’s solid if you need to get some work done (I may have tested this more than I’d like to admit). What really impressed me was the attention to detail – the kind of thoughtful touches that show someone actually cares about your experience rather than just checking boxes. The beds are properly comfortable, the heating works without sounding like a freight train, and there’s enough space to properly unpack without living out of a suitcase.
Honestly, if you’re the type who needs to be in the thick of St. Ives madness, this might feel too quiet for you. But if you want a proper base for exploring Cornwall without the tourist crowds breathing down your neck, The Cottage hits that sweet spot perfectly. The location gives you easy access to both the dramatic north coast and the gentler south coast – I found myself doing day trips in different directions and always being happy to come back to Little Trembroath in the evening. Plus, and this matters more than you’d think, parking is actually straightforward here, which anyone who’s tried to navigate a car around Cornwall’s more popular spots will appreciate. It’s the kind of place that makes you understand why people keep coming back to this part of the world, but also why they don’t always share their favorite spots on social media.

Great location, the view out the bedroom window is lovely. Spacious cottage, with plenty of storage/ general living space. we had a really comfortable stay. Great to stay in a cottage that is legitimately walking distance to the pub across some fields! Hosts couldn’t do more for us, even allowing us to spend time in their private garden/woodland.
