You know what strikes you first about Talland Studio? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street called Talland Garth – honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the sign because it feels more like staying at someone’s incredibly well-designed home than a typical hotel. And that’s exactly the point, I think.

The whole place has this understated elegance that St Ives does so well when it’s not trying too hard. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Tate St Ives and all the harbor chaos, but step inside here and it’s like someone hit the volume down button on the world. The studio setup is brilliant – they’ve managed to create spaces that feel both intimate and surprisingly spacious, with these gorgeous windows that actually frame views of the town rather than just letting light in. The décor walks that perfect line between contemporary and cozy, lots of natural textures and muted colors that somehow make you want to kick off your shoes immediately. What really got me was the attention to small details – proper coffee (not those awful pods), locally made soaps that actually smell like something you’d want to use, and bedding that’s clearly been chosen by someone who understands the difference between thread count marketing and actual comfort.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience St Ives without feeling like you’re trapped in a tourist snow globe. Talland Road sits just high enough above the town center that you get these lovely glimpses of the harbor, but you’re far enough from the Wharf that you won’t hear drunk people stumbling around at 2 AM during summer season. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in St Ives generally, but they’ve sorted that out – which trust me, after driving down those narrow Cornish lanes, you’ll appreciate more than you expect. The walk down into town takes you past some of those gorgeous old stone cottages that make St Ives feel timeless, and coming back up (yes, it’s uphill, but not outrageously so) gives you a nice excuse to stop and catch your breath while taking in the view. I stayed during shoulder season in October, and the whole experience felt wonderfully peaceful – I imagine summer would be livelier but still far more civilized than staying right in the thick of things. Honestly, with a 9.5 rating, I was expecting to find something to nitpick, but the worst I can say is that the shower pressure could be slightly better, and that feels petty given everything else. This is the kind of place that makes you understand why people fall in love with Cornwall and start plotting their escape from city life.

  Good communication from owner. Met on arrival, very friendly couple and lovely apartment in a great location of St Ives. Would highly recommend this place to stay for couples planning on going to St Ives. We will definitely be booking again.

  The Studio was fabulous and situated in a quiet residential area, Donna and her husband were great to deal with. Donna met us on arrival and handed over the keys and went through the facilities. Beautifully decorated with everything we needed for our 5 night stay. Centrally located close to St Ives and its great restaurants. I would highly recommend.

  This gorgeous studio apartment is set a couple of roads up from the beaches and town of St Ives, it was very comfy and spotlessly clean, and had a place to park your car. Donna was so friendly and helpful, and when my car wouldn’t start her husband got it going for me. This lovely couple also left us some Cornish beers and biscuits which were really tasty and such a lovely touch.

  Location was great, easy walk into Town although is uphill on the return. Onsite parking is a major bonus. Unit for two people is very comfortable. Clean and modern unit. Donna was very easy to deal with.
