Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around St Ives, and honestly? This spot on Treverbyn Road caught me completely off guard. You know how most holiday rentals either nail the location or the actual accommodation – rarely both. Well, Sunrise actually manages to do something pretty clever here.
First thing – and this matters more than you’d think – the parking situation is sorted. I mean, anyone who’s driven into St Ives proper knows what a nightmare that can be, especially during summer months when the town’s absolutely rammed with visitors queuing for pasties and fighting over parking spots that cost more per hour than some people’s lunch. But up on Treverbyn Road, you’re just far enough out to breathe easy about leaving your car, yet still close enough that you’re not huffing and puffing down those steep St Ives hills with beach bags and shopping. It’s maybe a twelve-minute walk to the harbor – I timed it because, well, these things matter when you’re carrying a cooler and towels.
The sea views are the real deal, not some estate agent’s fantasy glimpse of blue if you crane your neck just right. From the main bedroom, you’re looking out over Carbis Bay direction, and honestly, waking up to that never gets old. The garden’s properly usable too – not just some postage stamp of grass they’ve called outdoor space. There’s actually room for morning coffee outside, and the kids (if you’ve got them) can kick a ball around without immediately losing it in the neighbor’s hedge. The whole setup feels more like someone’s actual home than a rental property, which I appreciate. You’ll find proper kitchen equipment, not the usual collection of mismatched plates and one blunt knife that haunts most holiday lets.
What really works about this place is how it sits in that sweet spot between being close enough to everything but far enough from the chaos. St Ives in peak season can be… well, let’s just say it’s popular for good reason, but sometimes you want to escape the crowds streaming down Fore Street. Up here, evenings are properly quiet – you’ll hear seagulls rather than late-night revelers, though honestly, the gulls can be pretty vocal themselves around dawn. The two bedrooms mean couples or families aren’t stepping on each other, and there’s enough space to spread out properly. I’ve noticed the morning light really floods the place – hence the name, I suppose – which sounds cheesy but actually makes a difference to how the day starts.
The whole area up there has this slightly more residential feel while still being St Ives proper, not stuck out in some housing estate miles from anywhere interesting. You’re walking distance from Porthminster Beach, which tends to be slightly less mayhem than the main town beach, and the coast path is right there if you fancy a proper walk along the cliffs toward Zennor or back around toward the Tate. It’s one of those places where you can actually relax rather than just visit, if that makes sense.

It was comfortable and had everything we needed.
What could be improved: Long walk into town with hill climb back so you need to be reasonably fit. Well placed for driving out with a car and good to have a reserved parking space.Cathy from United Kingdom – 6 January 2024 (8/10)
Clean and bright property with lovely little garden
Louise from Canada – 24 October 2023 (9/10)
Very comfortable. Nice. Clean, Well equiped. Quiet.
With some lateral view on sea.
There was a parking!
What could be improved: Checking-in hour at 17h is very late and inconvenient; and checking-out at 9h is very early and unusual too. (Alex the owner was graceful about granting some flexibility). More usual hours 16h and 10h would make planning much easier 🙂John from United Kingdom – 21 August 2023 (8/10)
The property was exactly as described so no complaints whatsoever
What could be improved: If being picky, it’s perhaps getting a bit run down.Joanne from United Kingdom – 29 June 2023 (8/10)
The house was very nice and clean
What could be improved: Where the house is situated very hilly and on a housing estate where it was mainly people who lived thereWendy from Australia – 6 June 2023 (8/10)
