Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name makes it sound like just another vacation rental, but honestly, this spot in Charlestown is something special. I mean, you’re literally staying in what feels like a proper Cornwall postcard – Clock Tower Court sits right in the heart of this ridiculously picturesque fishing village, and when I say the private beach access is the real deal, I’m not exaggerating. Most places that claim “private beach” give you some rocky patch, but here you actually get your own slice of sand where you can drink your morning coffee without dodging crowds of tourists taking selfies.

The apartment itself is proper spacious – those balconies aren’t just tiny Juliet things either, you can actually sit out there with a glass of wine and watch the boats come in. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even during peak summer when Charlestown gets absolutely mental with the Poldark tour buses (yeah, this is where they filmed a bunch of those scenes, and trust me, you’ll hear about it). The coast path literally starts right outside, which is brilliant if you’re into walking – you can head toward Duporth Beach one way or trek toward the Eden Project the other direction. Actually, speaking of Eden, it’s only about ten minutes by car, which saves you the nightmare of trying to find parking there during school holidays.

The setup inside feels like someone actually lives here rather than that sterile rental vibe you get sometimes. Kitchen’s well-stocked – I mean properly stocked, not just the bare minimum – and the beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with springs all night. Parking can be a bit tight in the village (it’s old, narrow streets, what do you expect?), but there’s a designated spot which honestly makes all the difference when you’re lugging suitcases and groceries. The 9.6 rating isn’t tourist inflation either – everything just works the way it should, from the shower pressure to the WiFi, and the whole place feels looked-after rather than just cleaned between guests. If you’re planning to explore proper Cornwall – I’m talking the real stuff, not just the chain restaurants in Newquay – this gives you that authentic fishing village experience while still having modern comforts when you want to collapse after a day of coastal walking.

The apartment was extremely well furnished with exceptional attention to detail.
Lovely coastal walks with Charlestown and Porthpean only a short walk away with fantastic views.
Eden project a short drive or bus ride away.
I caught the number 25 bus into Fowey, £2/adult single journey (£4.20 return.. so obviously single tickets are cheaper)
I found everyone I met was very friendly and helpful.
A lovely gesture of a bottle of bubbly and chocolates from Trees was left for us on arrival and gratefully appreciated. We had a superb stay and communication from Trees was always immediate.
Such an excellent property with an excellent host. Highly recommended. Thank you Trees.

  • David from United States – 3 July 2024 (9/10)

It was sunny and bright. Very clean and well equipped. Short lovely walk into Charlestown.

What could be improved: Cell service was a little sketchy and although near a beach it didn’t have a view.

  • Helen from South Africa – 2 July 2024 (10/10)

I liked the modern style of the accommodation. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. Trees the host was responsive and very easy to communicate with, making it a more personal experience. We liked the fact that it was within walking distance to a private beach, and Charlestown has great restaurants and an interesting Cornish history.
