So I stumbled across Spindrift during a long weekend in Cornwall, and honestly? This place completely changed how I think about staying in Polperro. You know how most accommodations in these touristy fishing villages are either cramped B&Bs or overpriced hotels that feel generic? Well, this is neither of those things.

The house sits right on The Warren – and if you’ve never been to Polperro, that’s basically the sweet spot where the old harbour meets the coastal path. I mean, you’re literally steps from watching the fishing boats bob around in the morning, but you’re also perfectly positioned to start those dramatic cliff walks without fighting through the narrow village streets first. The refurbishment they’ve done is really thoughtful too. It’s got that fresh, clean feel without losing the character of what’s obviously an old Cornish house. The three bedrooms actually feel spacious (miracle in Polperro), and there’s enough room for a family to spread out without stepping on each other. What I really appreciated was the kitchen – properly equipped, not just the usual holiday rental afterthought with mismatched plates and a temperamental hob.

Here’s what nobody tells you about staying right on the harbour though: yes, it’s gorgeous, but summer mornings start early with the gulls and the occasional fishing boat. I’m an early riser anyway, so I loved having coffee while watching the village wake up, but light sleepers might want to pack earplugs. The coastal path access is genuinely brilliant – you can be walking toward Talland Bay or heading east toward Looe without dealing with any of the tourist bottlenecks in the village center. And parking… well, let’s be honest, parking anywhere in Polperro is a bit of a nightmare, but being right where you are means less shuffling cars around narrow lanes with wing mirrors inches from stone walls. The whole setup just works for families or groups who want that authentic Cornish fishing village experience without feeling like they’re camping in someone’s spare room. The 8.6 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place that delivers exactly what it promises, with just enough local character to make you feel like you’ve discovered something special rather than just booked another rental.

  Fabulous location.
  Well maintained. Kitchen seemed well equipped, although we didn’t use it much as it was a short stay and we ate out at local pubs which were all really close.
  Great communication from Donna. Very welcoming and, if we had had any issues (which we didn’t), am sure she would have resolved them.
  
  What could be improved: Not ideal if you are over 6 ft as too tall for shower. Able to use bath though. Absolutely fine for shorter people – it’s a fisherman’s cottage with low doorways, so only to be expected.
  Description does say toiletries are provided, but there was only a hand wash in the bathroom.
