You know what struck me first about this place? The name actually undersells it. Sure, it’s spacious and yes, you’ve got those sea views over St Ives Bay, but honestly – sitting on that terrace in the evening with a glass of wine, watching the light change over the water – it’s the kind of moment that makes you forget you’re technically staying in someone’s apartment and not some boutique resort.

The location on Prosper Hill is pretty clever, actually. Most people rush straight to St Ives itself (which gets absolutely rammed in summer, let’s be honest), but Gwithian sits just far enough back that you get the best of both worlds. You’re maybe a ten-minute drive from the chaos of St Ives harbor, but when you come home in the evening, there’s this lovely quiet that settles over the area. The apartment itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile – I mean that in the best way. There’s decent kitchen kit if you want to cook (and you should, because the local fish is incredible), and the WiFi actually works well enough for those inevitable “just checking emails” moments. Parking wasn’t the nightmare I expected either, which… well, if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near St Ives in July, you’ll appreciate that small miracle.

What really got me was how the whole setup just sort of works for different types of trips. We were there in late September – still warm enough for the beach but past the peak madness – and it felt like having a proper base rather than just somewhere to crash. The walk down to Gwithian Beach takes maybe fifteen minutes, and it’s one of those stretches that goes on forever when the tide’s out. Perfect for clearing your head or wearing out restless kids, depending on your situation. The 9.6 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything you need is done well. The sea views aren’t just glimpses between buildings either – you’ve got a proper panorama that changes completely depending on the weather and time of day. I found myself checking it first thing each morning like some sort of natural weather forecast.

  Fantastic sea view and in such a beautiful location. Perfect for sunset watching.

  The bed was extremely comfortable and I loved the open planned , airy and spacious feel of the space upstairs.
  So much to see and do in the area , lots of stunning beaches and lots of wildlife to be seen.
