Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of seaside apartments, and honestly? The Seymour on Listowel Drive is one of those places that actually gets it right. You know what I mean – it’s not trying to be some fancy resort, but it nails the whole “home away from home” thing that most places just pretend to offer.

First thing you’ll notice is how quiet this stretch of Looe is. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk down to the harbour and grab fish and chips (about a 10-minute stroll, maybe 15 if you’re dawdling), but you’re not dealing with the crowds and seagulls fighting over your breakfast on the balcony. The apartment itself feels properly thought out – like someone who actually lives in Cornwall designed it, not some London developer who’s never seen the coast. The kitchen has everything you’d actually need if you pick up groceries from the Co-op, and the living area gets this lovely afternoon light that makes you want to just sit there with a cup of tea and watch the weather roll in.

What really sold me on this place, though, was the little details. The shower has proper water pressure (you’d be surprised how rare that is in older coastal properties), and there’s actually enough storage space for a week’s worth of clothes without living out of a suitcase. Plus – and this might sound silly – but the WiFi actually works throughout the whole apartment, which is a godsend if you’re trying to keep up with work emails or stream something on a rainy evening. The view isn’t exactly postcard-perfect from every window, but you get glimpses of the water and the rolling hills that remind you why you came to Cornwall in the first place. Parking’s straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around Looe in summer will tell you is worth its weight in gold.

The location is honestly the sweet spot – you’re in that residential area where actual locals live, so you get a feel for real Looe life, but East Looe Beach is still an easy walk when you want to do the touristy bits. I found myself popping down to the harbour most mornings for coffee, then heading back to the apartment for a proper lunch instead of paying tourist prices for everything. The whole setup just works, you know? It’s got that 9.4 rating for a reason – it’s the kind of place where everything functions the way it should, the hosts clearly care about their guests, and you end up extending your stay if you can swing it. I’ve already booked it again for next summer, which probably tells you everything you need to know.

    Great views, lovely locations, easy to find, nice touch providing a welcome pack of milk, bread, spread and marmalade, very comfortable beds, lovely crisp fresh bedding and towels, everything you would want for a stay away from home.

    Superb views – we loved it so much that we booked again for next year. We really appreciated the bread and milk etc. The apartment had comfortable beds and contained everything we needed. There are good local takeaways (we particularly enjoyed the pizza at the Premier shop).

    Parking was easy and the apartment was lovely and warm.

    We loved exploring the local area and I enjoyed sea swims every day, even though it was November. Mount Edgcumbe parkrun was a highlight!

    Great views and perfect location for us. 15 min walk into town, a bit longer coming back up the hills but great for active people. Apartment was warm and comfortable with great facilities. Stayed two years in a row and would be happy to return again.
