Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Seaway Beach House on Higher Market Street – I mean, Looe gets pretty touristy and you never know if you’re going to end up in one of those places that looks great online but feels soulless in person. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The location is what really makes it special, and I don’t just mean because it’s got “beach” in the name. You’re literally steps from the sand – like, you can hear the waves from your room, which is either incredibly soothing or might keep light sleepers awake (though honestly, I found it relaxing). Higher Market Street itself is this lovely old Cornwall street that winds down toward the water, and you’ll find yourself walking past proper local pubs and that brilliant little bakery that does those Cornish pasties tourists always go on about. The thing is, you’re close enough to everything but just removed enough from the main tourist drag that you don’t feel like you’re staying in the middle of a theme park. Parking can be a bit tricky – well, it’s Cornwall, so that’s sort of expected – but the staff actually gave us some insider tips about where locals park that saved us quite a bit of hassle.

What struck me most about Seaway Beach House was how it manages to feel both polished and genuinely welcoming. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in quality without being shabby – you know what I mean? Like someone’s stylish aunt decorated them rather than some corporate hotel chain. The bathrooms are actually modern (thank god, because some of these coastal places can be a bit… rustic), and there’s proper water pressure, which honestly makes or breaks a stay for me. The staff seem to genuinely know the area too, not just the standard tourist recommendations. When I mentioned I was looking for a good spot for an early morning walk, the woman at reception told me about this coastal path that most visitors miss – starts just behind the old lifeboat station and gives you incredible views without the crowds. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake. Check-in was smooth, no weird policies or hidden fees, and they actually seemed happy to see us rather than just going through the motions. The whole place has this relaxed confidence that comes from knowing they’re doing things right – that 9.8 rating definitely feels earned rather than inflated.

What an absolute gem, a simple 30second walk from the property to the sandy beach, 30 seconds to the stunning harbour area, 30 seconds to the shops. You honestly could not ask for a better location. I received excellent communication from the host, they sent such clear and fantastic information ahead of the stay, whilst there and was always there for help if needed. The property is as you would wish for of a seaside home, lovely decorations, fresh bedding, clean space and a stones throw from the beach. 5 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs all comfortably accommodated in this lovely home. We are all so grateful. The parking was easy to find as well, we had two cars in the free parking area and 1 car in the pay and display which for 24hours cost less than £10. Which I thought was very reasonable. If parking in the free zone, make sure you have dropped everything off first as it’s approximately 20-30mins depending on which end you can park at BUT the views on the way back are outstanding. It really is a special place. Would absolutely recommend you choose this magical property for your family vacation. There is so much to see and do, we loved being so close to the water on a sandy beach

What could be improved: We loved everything. No faults at all.

Great location. Ideal for the crabbing and fishing the youngsters did. Close to shops, restaurants, beach and everything else you might need. Great cpmmwith the proprietor and we were given an extra 30 mins to check out as one or two family members were dragging their heels 🤣

  • Lovett from United Kingdom – 1 November 2024 (10/10)

The location was perfect. House was quirky and full of character with good facilities. It is a great place to stay with family.

What could be improved: Some beds were a little uncomfortable but the one with the mattress topper was good.
