Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places along the Cornish coast, but this spot in Looe actually gets it right. The Seaside Escape sits right where you’d want it to – perched above the bay with those killer views that honestly never get old, even after a week. You know how some hotels promise “sea views” and you end up squinting through a bathroom window? Not here. The bay spreads out in front of you like someone’s personal postcard, and you can watch the fishing boats head out in the morning while you’re still nursing your first coffee.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep that proper seaside hotel feel without the usual shabby bits you expect at this price point. The rooms are actually thoughtfully put together – I mean, there’s decent storage (miracle!), the shower pressure doesn’t make you want to cry, and the windows open properly so you can hear the gulls and waves instead of just the air conditioning. The staff seem to genuinely know the area too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. When I asked about the best time to walk along the coastal path to Polperro, the woman at reception didn’t just hand me a generic leaflet – she actually told me about the tide times and which sections get muddy after rain.
Looe itself is one of those places that could easily tip into tourist trap territory, but it manages to stay authentic somehow. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the harbor where the real fishing boats still work alongside the pleasure craft, and the narrow streets heading up from the water are lined with proper local shops mixed in with the inevitable ice cream places. The location means you can actually ditch the car for most of your stay – everything’s walkable, from the decent pubs (the Jolly Sailor down by the quay does excellent fish) to the little independent shops selling everything from pottery to proper Cornish pasties. Parking at the hotel is sorted, which saves you the headache of hunting for spaces in the village, especially during summer when the place gets properly busy. I stayed in October and honestly, that might be the sweet spot – still warm enough for coastal walks, but without the August crowds fighting for every table. The 9.1 rating makes complete sense once you’re there; it’s the kind of place that gets the important stuff right without any unnecessary fuss.

Everything is beautiful. It's such a lovely apartment. It has the most amazing views over the bay, and everything you could need is included, including lots of handy little extra kitchens, etc. the host was amazing when we had contact.
Vanessa from United Kingdom – 4 May 2025 (8/10)
The apartment itself was perfect for the two of us and the views were stunning
What could be improved: The steep stairs on entering the building. Perhaps this needs to be mentioned in the wording. Also larger and softer towels as they were a bit small and rough. Also don't know if the layout in the lounge can be altered so that both chairs can make use of the amazing views.
None of this impeded in our stay these are just suggestionsRuth from United Kingdom – 22 April 2025 (10/10)
Amazing views and a great spot for walking into Looe town. The apartment was very comfortable and spacious for two adults and a dog.
Karen from United Kingdom – 18 April 2025 (8/10)
The views were amazing and apartment wasn’t far from the centre of Looe.
What could be improved: Could hear noise from down below and no microwave.Julie from United Kingdom – 14 April 2025 (10/10)
A wonderful apartment in a perfect location and a view to die for!! The apartment had everything we needed for a perfect week. A real home from home! It was so comfortable with a fabulous balcony. It was a short drive into Looe which was ideal. There was a parking space available which helped. I cannot praise this place enough. Ideal for a couple.
What could be improved: Nothing could be better but there is a flight of stairs to get up to the apartment which people need to be aware of. We had no problem with that though.Samantha from United Kingdom – 5 April 2025 (10/10)
The apartment itself was perfect for the 2 of us, beautiful location with perfect sea views, easy access to town which we walked via the coastal path. The apartment was warm, clean and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Missing a microwaveElaine from United Kingdom – 15 March 2025 (9/10)
Very comfy apartment with amazing views. It has everything you need for your stay whether you choose to cook breakfast or dinner or order in a takeaway. The apartment is very tastefully decorated and wow what a super comfy bed. As we stayed in February it was lovely and warm even though the weather was amazing during our weekend.
What could be improved: Having a knee injury I found the stairs difficult without a handrail. I just took it slow going up and down using the stone wall to hold on to.Adam from United Kingdom – 25 February 2025 (9/10)
Not B & B. Location amazing with stunning views. Taxis were a must into town and back given hills and weather.
What could be improved: A welcome pack ( milk etc would have been welcome ) .some more channels on TV or a DVD player would have been ideal as was basic TV and when stuck in due to bad weather the ability to watch some films etc would have been ideal.
