Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about this place? It’s tucked away on Little Treverrow, which honestly feels more like someone’s quiet residential street than where you’d expect to find a proper lodge. But that’s exactly what makes it work – you’re staying in this beautiful Scandinavian-inspired property that feels completely removed from the typical tourist bustle, even though you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Wadebridge’s center.

The whole aesthetic here is spot-on without being Instagram-fake, if that makes sense. I mean, they’ve really committed to the Nordic thing – clean lines, lots of natural wood, those cozy textiles that actually feel expensive when you touch them. The lighting is particularly well done; they’ve got this warm, hygge vibe going that makes you want to curl up with a book even if you came here to explore Cornwall. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays – you’d think being in a residential area might mean dealing with neighbor noise, but honestly the soundproofing is excellent. I slept better here than I have in ages, and I’m usually pretty sensitive to creaking floors and such.

The location is actually brilliant once you figure it out. Wadebridge isn’t the flashiest Cornish town, but it’s perfectly positioned if you want to hit both the coast and the moors without constantly packing and unpacking. You can walk to the Camel Trail right from here – and I mean actually walk, not that “short walk” nonsense that turns out to be twenty minutes uphill. The trail’s fantastic for cycling if you’re into that, or just a pleasant stroll along the old railway line. Plus you’re close enough to Padstow that you can pop over for dinner without it being a whole expedition, but far enough away that you’re not paying Padstow prices for everything. The owner mentioned that most guests use it as a base for exploring the north coast beaches – Polzeath and Constantine Bay are both easy drives, and honestly much less crowded than the south coast spots. Parking’s never been an issue here either, which sounds boring but try finding a decent spot in Padstow during summer and you’ll appreciate having your own space. The 9.2 rating feels about right – it’s genuinely well-run, thoughtfully designed, and the kind of place where small details like good shower pressure and blackout curtains actually work properly. It’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but what it does, it does really well.

We loved the peaceful location, tasteful decor and comfortable rooms. The chalet was well-equipped, including some informative books about the local area.

What could be improved: We loved it, although the main door lock was a bit tricky at first.

The beds were DREAMY!! The property itself was just wonderful. Our children were very well catered for with a toy box in the main area, games in one of the wardrobes and a triple bunk in one of the bedrooms.
There were stacks of DVD's available to watch and also a firestick so, something for everyone. The shower was a great pressure and the water supply can be super hot when needed! The kitchen had a great selection of mugs for our cuppa's (which is always a gold star for us!) and some child friendly cups too.
The dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and freezer were all very welcome bonus' for our stay!
Comfy Sofa's, GORGEOUS views!! We absolutely loved our stay at the Lodge and will be back in future 🙂 Thank you Charlie!

  • Pat from New Zealand – 24 May 2024 (9/10)

Tranquil location in lovely natural surroundings, great facilities, good communication with host, spacious & comfortable, we enjoyed our stay.

What could be improved: Distance between car park and lodge, with luggage, is long, but there is a cart. A bit hard to find on first attempt even with GPS & host instructions. You need to not mind narrow lanes!

  • Chris from United Kingdom – 13 February 2024 (10/10)

What a fabulous little gem in a stunning area of Cornwall. The lodge had every comfort needed for our 3 day winter break. There was plenty of parking for our large car, and the lodge itself was very private. The only sound were the birds which was perfect. It was also perfectly located for us to go on our beach and south West coast path walks as well as nipping down to the local for a lovely meal and drink. This lodge is clearly well kept home by the owners and you can see touches of that everywhere.

What could be improved: We did struggle slightly opening the main wooden door in the mornings but I think that was down to the weather expanding the wood, so with a good push we did manage to get out! But in no way detracted from our break.
