You know what’s funny about Rockley Cottage? I almost drove right past it the first time – it’s tucked away in this incredibly peaceful spot near Redmoor that feels miles from anywhere, but then you realize you’re actually perfectly positioned for everything Cornwall has to offer. The Eden Project is literally a 10-minute drive down winding country lanes (and I mean proper Cornish lanes where you’ll probably have to reverse into a gateway if you meet another car), while Fowey is about 20 minutes if you take the scenic route through Lostwithiel.

The cottage itself is one of those places that just gets everything right without trying too hard. When I pulled up, there was this moment where I actually stopped and thought “oh, this is going to be good” – you know that feeling? The stone building has this weathered, authentic character that you can’t fake, and honestly, the owners have managed to keep all the charm while making everything work perfectly for modern life. Inside, it’s got that cozy cottage vibe without being cramped or overly twee. The kitchen is properly equipped (I mean, you can actually cook here if you want to), and there’s this lovely sitting area where you’ll probably end up spending your evenings with a glass of wine, planning the next day’s adventures. The beds are comfortable – like, genuinely sleep-well comfortable, not just acceptable – and the whole place feels spotless without being sterile.

What really sets this place apart though is the location itself. You’re in proper countryside here, so mornings are quiet except for birds and the occasional sheep (the silence is actually quite striking if you’re used to city life), but you’re not isolated. The Eden Project gets mental busy during school holidays, but staying here means you can be there for opening time and have the biomes almost to yourself for the first hour. Same with Fowey – you can drive down for dinner and avoid the day-tripper crowds. Plus, and this is something I only figured out after talking to locals, you’re really well positioned for the less obvious stuff too. The Camel Trail for cycling, some brilliant coastal walks near Charlestown, even the Lost Gardens of Heligan if you fancy a change from Eden. Parking’s never an issue here (unlike in Fowey proper), and the cottage has this perfect setup where you can dump all your beach gear and muddy walking boots without tracking sand through pristine rooms. I’ll be honest, at this level – we’re talking serious 5-star territory here – you expect things to be good, but Rockley Cottage delivers on that promise without any of the stuffiness you sometimes get with upmarket places.

  Really nice cottage, quiet location well equipped kitchen. We were greeted with biscuits, jams, coffee pods, tea and a loaf home made bread, there's a Wifi speaker in lounge and wireless charger for phones, ample parking really nice shower and comfy bed.

  Well appointed, equipped & comfortable house. Good kitchen with modern appliances, comfy sofas in lounge section, comfortable bed & good shower. Private & quiet, with ample parking space.
  
  What could be improved: All was good, the only downside being the low ceiling (pitch of roof) in the bedroom – I banged my head 3x times (you’d think I’d have learned after the first time, wouldn’t you !)

  Spent a relaxing few days here in this peaceful location. A loaf of freshly made bread, biscuits etc greeted us upon our arrival.Very convenient for our visit to the Eden project also beaches.

  From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we felt something.. Ended up with 5 superb nights within the Bodmin area, with a guide manifested within the walls of Rockley Cottage. This place is so well put together and lends itself as a wonderful staging point to go venturing onto the Cornish coast! Already planning our return to Redmoor and Rockley Cottage❤️

  Cottage was lovely, we had everything we needed and it was extremely well equipped it was a lovely very quiet location. Our hosts had made us very welcome with some extra touches on arrival and were available via messenger for any questions throughout. I would highly recommend to friends and family.
  
  What could be improved: The bedroom is lovely but my partner is 6ft 4inch so parts of the ceiling where a bit challenging, but this was clearly visible on the pics before booking. We also found the very long single lane to the cottage a bit challenging, especially at night, but I guess that's London folk for you. Wasn't many other cars along there, though, so wouldnt put us of staying again.
