Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Robinswood? It’s not actually in Falmouth town center like you might expect – it’s tucked away in this lovely residential area that feels properly Cornish, if that makes sense. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk into town (maybe 10-15 minutes down toward the harbor), but you get this sense of actually staying somewhere locals live rather than just being parked in tourist central.
The place has that confident, understated vibe that genuinely good hotels seem to master. Nothing’s trying too hard, but everything just… works. The rooms feel thoughtfully put together – not designer-magazine perfect, but comfortable in a way that makes you think someone actually considered how you’d use the space. I particularly loved the little touches, like proper reading lights (honestly, why do so many places get this wrong?) and windows that actually open wide enough to let in that lovely Cornish air. The staff genuinely seem to know Falmouth well too, which sounds obvious but isn’t always the case. When I asked about walking routes along the coast, the woman at reception didn’t just hand me a generic leaflet – she actually sketched out her favorite loop that takes you past some gorgeous hidden coves.
What really won me over was how quiet it gets in the evenings. You’re far enough from the main road that you don’t get the summer traffic noise, but close enough to decent pubs that you’re not stuck if you fancy a proper meal out. The Pandora Inn is a bit of a trek but absolutely worth it if you’ve got a car – though honestly, there are plenty of solid options within walking distance if you’re not feeling ambitious. Parking’s included too, which takes away that slightly stressful element of Cornwall trips where you’re constantly feeding meters or worrying about permits. I stayed during shoulder season in May, so can’t speak to how crazy busy it gets in peak summer, but the whole setup feels like it could handle crowds without losing that relaxed atmosphere. That 9.6 rating definitely feels earned – it’s the kind of place where small details are sorted, staff remember your name after day one, and you start planning your next Cornwall trip before you’ve even checked out.

Really lovely location and property. Felt very homely and the beds were comfortable.
What could be improved: Sadly, the shower head holder had been broken, so we were not able to stand under the shower. It would have been handy to have a dustpan and brush (we couldn’t find one).Robin from Germany – 27 August 2023 (10/10)
