Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Cornwall, but Riversdale Cottage in Wadebridge just hits different – and I mean that in the best way possible. You know those places where you immediately feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special? That’s this spot. It’s tucked away just enough that you won’t have tour buses rumbling past your window, but honestly, you’re still close enough to everything that matters in Wadebridge.

The cottage itself feels properly lived-in without being worn down, if that makes sense. I mean, this isn’t some sterile hotel chain situation – there’s character in every room, from the slightly creaky floorboards (in a charming way, not annoying) to the way the morning light filters through those gorgeous sash windows. The owners clearly know what they’re doing because everything just works. Hot water when you need it, actually comfortable beds (seriously, I slept better here than I do at home), and the kind of heating that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing when it kicks on. Small things, but you notice them when they’re done right. What really sold me was the local knowledge – they genuinely care about helping you make the most of the area, not just pointing you toward the obvious tourist traps.

And speaking of the area, you’re perfectly positioned here. The Camel Trail is literally a few minutes’ walk away, which is brilliant if you’re into cycling or just fancy a peaceful stroll along the river. I actually rented bikes right in town and cycled all the way to Padstow – took about an hour and the views along the estuary are absolutely stunning. Plus, you’re close enough to the really good pubs (The Ship Inn does an incredible Sunday roast, just saying) but far enough from the main road that it’s properly quiet at night. Parking was never an issue either, which honestly surprised me given how cramped some Cornish towns can get during summer. The whole vibe here just feels authentic – like staying with friends who happen to have impeccable taste and a knack for hospitality. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out.
