Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of boutique places along the Cornish coast, but Ramble & Rye – The Nest actually gets what travelers want without all the pretentious nonsense. It’s tucked away in Talland – and I mean properly tucked away, not that fake “secluded” thing hotels love to claim. You’re basically perched above Talland Bay, which honestly might be one of the most underrated spots between Looe and Polperro (locals will argue about this, but they’re wrong).

The whole place feels like someone’s incredibly stylish friend converted their coastal retreat and actually thought about the details. I mean, there’s proper thick towels that don’t feel like sandpaper, the kind of lighting that doesn’t make you look like you’re in a hospital, and – here’s the thing that sold me – they’ve got those little touches that matter. Real coffee beans, not those pod things. Windows that actually open properly so you can hear the waves without feeling like you’re camping. The parking situation is way better than most places around here too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Cornish village streets with a rental car will appreciate.

What really sets it apart though is the location knowledge. The staff genuinely know the area – not just the obvious tourist spots, but they’ll point you toward the footpath that leads to the quieter end of the beach, or mention that the Talland Bay Hotel does excellent Sunday roasts if you can’t be bothered to drive into Looe. You’re a proper ten-minute coastal walk from some incredible swimming spots, and honestly, in summer when everywhere else is packed with families, you’ll find little coves here that feel almost private. The South West Coast Path literally runs past the place, so if you’re into hiking, you can basically roll out of bed and onto some of the most spectacular coastal walking in Cornwall. That 9.6 rating isn’t inflated either – everything from the check-in (smooth, no weird key card drama) to the morning quiet (thick walls, blessed silence) just works the way it should. It’s the sort of place you’ll want to book again before you’ve even left.

  Nice spot, very comfy beds, shower is amazing, place is ideally placed for the coast path or a short walk to talland beach where there is a licenced cafe, ample parking Friendly hosts, it's an old renovated farmhouse so very lovely

  Het ontvangst door Rebecca, ze probeert je het volledig naar je zin te maken. De bedden zijn super comfortabel en, op een magnetron na, is de keuken compleet. Dit appartement is een fantastische uitvalsbasis om Cornwall te verkennen!
