You know what caught me off guard about Pottsville Cabin? I was expecting one of those tired rental properties where everything’s slightly worn and the photos are way more flattering than reality. But honestly, this place actually delivers on what it promises – and then some.

The cabin sits tucked away in this quiet residential area just above Praa Sands, and when they say “short walk” to the beach, they mean it. I’m talking maybe five minutes down a gentle slope, which is perfect because you can actually hear the waves from the property on calm evenings. The whole setup feels deliberately understated – it’s not trying to be some Instagram-perfect retreat, but rather a proper base for exploring this gorgeous stretch of Cornish coast. Inside, everything’s been done with actual thought rather than just thrown together. The kitchen’s properly equipped (I mean, you can actually cook a decent meal without hunting for a can opener), and there’s this lovely lived-in quality to the furnishings that makes you feel like you’re staying at a well-organized friend’s place rather than a sterile rental.

What really sets it apart though is the location – Praa Sands itself is this fantastic long stretch of golden sand that somehow stays relatively uncrowded even in summer, probably because it’s just far enough from the main tourist trail around St. Ives and Penzance. The local pub, The Star Inn, is absolutely worth the ten-minute walk if you can’t be bothered cooking, and their Sunday roasts are genuinely excellent. Plus you’re perfectly positioned for day trips – Porthleven’s quirky harbor restaurants are maybe fifteen minutes by car, and if you’re feeling ambitious, the Minack Theatre is doable as an evening out. Parking’s straightforward (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in Cornwall), and the owners clearly understand what actually matters to guests. The WiFi works properly, the shower has decent pressure, and there are enough power outlets in sensible places. Small things, but they add up. I stayed in early September and found the whole area had this lovely end-of-summer mellowness – warm enough for beach days but without the July madness. The only minor quibble I’d have is that the walls are a bit thin, so if you’re traveling with light sleepers and staying during school holidays when neighboring properties might have families, just be aware. But honestly, for the money and the location, it’s a proper find.

  Comfortable cabin,countryside views,peaceful site,good facilities, pool & spa, boathouse bar, near dog friendly beach in June, beach bar & ice-cream.
  
  What could be improved: Limited for places to eat out, no entertainment, that was the only negatives. Though If you want a peaceful, get away from it all holiday,this is it. We were quite happy to enjoy a drink in the evening at our cabin. Took our own firestick for tv, they have good wifi connection.

  Perfect size for a family of 4. Dining area in kitchen and everything you need utensils and appliances wise for meals. Large fridge freezer for the weeks shop! Comfortable beds. Outdoor seating area to sit in the sunshine. Close walk to the beach and swimming facilities were really easy to book for the rainy days.

  The chalet was absolutely wonderful. It was warm & comfortable. It had everything you could possibly need and more! Thoughtful touches like dog bowls and towel. Comfortable beds and great shower. Would love to return!

  Everything was to our satisfaction it was a great place to stay.
  
  What could be improved: There was nothing we didn't like, the only thing that was a bit disappointing was that the washing machine was out of use and we had to use the one on site, which charges a fortune to wash and dry clothes
