You know what really struck me about Polmorla when I first pulled up? It’s actually right in the heart of Polzeath, which means you’re literally a two-minute walk from one of Cornwall’s best surf beaches – and I mean that’s rare for a proper hotel rather than some cramped B&B. The building itself has this lovely Cornish character without being all twee about it, sort of understated in that way good hotels manage when they’re confident about their location.

The thing is, staying here really does feel like you’ve got the best of both worlds. During the day, you can hear the distant sound of waves and kids playing on the beach, but honestly, once you’re inside your room, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The 4-star rating feels spot-on – everything’s well-maintained and thoughtfully done without being flashy. I mean, you’re not going to find marble bathrooms or anything, but the rooms are genuinely comfortable and the beds are actually good (which matters more than people think after a day hiking the coastal path). What really impressed me was how they’ve managed the whole check-in process – no fuss, staff who clearly know the area inside out, and they’ll sort your parking without you having to circle around looking for a spot like you do in some of the busier Cornish towns.

Here’s what makes Polmorla work so well though – the location puts you right where you want to be without the chaos of somewhere like Newquay. You can walk to the beach before breakfast, grab supplies from the local shops, and you’re perfectly positioned for exploring both the dramatic coastline toward Tintagel and the more sheltered coves if the weather turns. The 8.8 rating makes complete sense when you realize how hard it is to find a decent hotel (not a holiday let or cramped guesthouse) that’s this close to the action in Polzeath. Plus, and this is something you only appreciate when you’re actually there, the staff seem to genuinely live locally – they’ll tell you when the tide’s best for swimming or which coastal path route to take depending on the weather. It’s that kind of insider knowledge that makes the difference between a good trip and one of those holidays you’re still talking about months later.

  Location great, comfy house, showers worked well, lots of hot water. House was lovely and warm great view, had everything we needed and wanted.
  
  What could be improved: Check in is very late, check out very early so made it a rush. Fridge was too small for 6 especially with teenagers!

  Amazing location just up the hill from the beach. We had a lovely meal at the Oystet Catcher and the Cracking Crab

  great location, parking for two cars, beach 5 min away however way back is up the hill. very well quipped kitchen and comfortable living room
  
  What could be improved: check out 9:30 am. beds are small – not great for bigger people-but very comfortable. one of the bathrooms has only bathtub without shower head. next to pub which is very convenient but noisy at times.
