The fact that there’s free private parking on site is actually a bigger deal than it might sound — anyone who’s tried to park in Saint Mawes during summer will tell you that’s worth its weight in gold.

While places like Padstow and St. Ives can feel a bit chaotic during peak season, Saint Mawes maintains this almost Mediterranean pace — probably something to do with its south-facing position and sheltered harbor. From Polmaro, you can easily walk down to the castle (Henry VIII’s doing, if you’re into that sort of history), or just wander the narrow streets that wind up from the waterfront. The local pubs actually serve decent food, and the morning light across Carrick Roads is something you’ll remember long after you’ve left.

  The apartment was spotlessly clean with everything you needed in the kitchen including all cleaning and washing stuff. Towels are provided even a tea towel. The bed was very comfortable. Very peaceful even for a boat yard. Finding the way to the yard is a bit difficult at first and can quite easily be missed especially if you go in the dark so take it slowly going up the hill. All in all we had a wonderful stay and we would definitely recommend this apartment and hosts. By the way Anna Derek says sorry once again 😆.
