Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Perran Pearl A? It’s tucked away in Perranporth in this spot where you can actually hear the ocean if you listen for it – not like those “coastal” hotels that are miles inland. I mean, Perranporth isn’t exactly a secret anymore, but this place manages to feel intimate despite being a proper 4-star operation.
The thing about staying here is that you’re genuinely in the thick of what makes this stretch of Cornwall special. You can walk to the beach without getting in your car (honestly, such a relief), and when I say walk, I’m talking about an actual pleasant stroll, not some epic trek across car parks and through industrial estates. The staff – well, they actually seem to know the area rather than just reading from scripts. Someone at reception told me about this brilliant little bakery that opens early for surfers, and honestly, that kind of local intel is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to avoid the tourist traps.
What really won me over was how the place handles the balance between being polished enough to justify the 4-star rating but not so precious that you feel weird about coming back sandy from the beach. The rooms are genuinely comfortable (proper shower pressure, thank god), and there’s this attention to detail that feels thoughtful rather than showy. I stayed during what I’d call shoulder season – early autumn when the families have cleared out but the weather’s still decent – and the whole vibe was relaxed in that way Cornwall does best. Parking was straightforward, which if you’ve ever tried to navigate Cornish coastal towns in summer, you’ll know is no small thing. The 8.8 rating honestly feels about right – it’s the kind of place where small things work properly and you don’t spend your holiday dealing with annoying little problems. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind with flashy amenities, but sometimes what you want is just a really solid base for exploring this gorgeous bit of coast without any drama.

This little gem is just beautiful. Great location, lovely welcoming basket, very clean & everything you need.
What could be improved: We had a lot of trouble with the internet. If it worked it was very slow. Bed was way too soft for us. Needs a mirror in the bedroom.Helen from United Kingdom – 2 August 2024 (9/10)
Loved the balcony in the evening, glass of wine in hand, watching the sunset!
Everything clean and modern. Bed very comfortable.
Situated in a nice part of Perranporth. Lovely views of surrounding countryside and the bay.
What could be improved: WiFi was hopeless… turned it off and had to use 4G
Hot during our stay- could go with a lightweight summer duvet as the duvet was a winter duvet or at least a fan to cool the bedroom at nightDenise from United Kingdom – 11 October 2023 (9/10)
The location was good, a short walk (steep hill) into town. Very quiet.

Not far from the town, new build, very clean and modern. Owners left a greetings package which was very thoughtful.
What could be improved: Access to the property is up a steep narrow lane, but if you inform the owners they will allow you to park in front of their property at the bottom of the lane. Best to reverse up the short lane because there’s not much room to turn. The walk back from town to the property is not long but it is all uphill, no good if you have mobility issues.Waseem from United Kingdom – 11 June 2023 (9/10)
worked in town 2 minutes drive down the hill
What could be improved: walk back is uphillRainford from United Kingdom – 9 August 2022 (9/10)
The apartment was clean and had everything required for our stay. It was a very quiet area which was amazing. the welcome food and drink was an added bonus and very gratefully received.
What could be improved: -Unfortunately we do not like strong scented bedding this is a big hate for us and the scent did not go away (even on us). We did sleep well but it would have been 10 if the bedding was more neutral.
-Also we did not think of salt and pepper this is only a small thing but we do stay in self catering apartments often and generally S&P are there.
– Wifi was intermittent especially in the bedroomNatalie from United Kingdom – 5 August 2022 (9/10)
Very lovely and spotlessly clean apartment, 5 minute walk to the beach. Welcome basket on arrival was a lovely gesture. Heidi was a great host and very helpful. Highly recommend
What could be improved: Wi-Fi wasn’t very strongHolly from United Kingdom – 28 June 2022 (9/10)
Everything was perfect. Exactly what we expected. Great location – only a short walk down to the beach so was ideal for a walk down in a wetsuit with a body board! It was SUPER lovely to walk in to a complimentary scones, jam and cream as well as milk and butter. The bed was SUPER comfortable, fab nights sleep! Great storage for clothes and toiletries!
What could be improved: When we arrived we noticed there was five spiders (three in the living room, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom) – they were quite big 😳. However, fortunately we tried to forget about them and dealt with it 😂. Just wanted to add – the wifi in the bedroom (for the smart tv) didn’t work.Kirsty from United Kingdom – 8 May 2024 (8/10)
Lovely property, loads of storage which helped the property feel spacious even with all our own stuff. Having a bath and shower felt luxurious for the size of accommodation. We had been left a lovely welcome package, with local produce which we were very grateful for. Clear instructions for entry and nice and close to town centre.
What could be improved: Not a big problem, but be aware to take basic cleaning products, salt and pepper etc if staying for a week. This can’t be helped but again to be aware of, the walk up to the property from town is via a very steep hill. The outside space does overlook a private garden which does feel invasive.Jacqui from United Kingdom – 3 September 2023 (9/10)
It was a lovely place and clean
We had a lovely basket of treats left for us which was a lovely surprise
We would definitely book it again
What could be improved: Can think of anything we didn’t like
