You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Cornwall over the years, but Paradise House in Boscastle honestly caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. Walking up to this place, you’re not expecting much from the outside (it’s tucked away enough that you might drive past it), but once you’re inside, everything just clicks. The owners clearly know what they’re doing here, and it shows in those little details that actually matter when you’re trying to unwind.

The thing about Boscastle is that most people just pop in for a quick look at the harbor and the witchcraft museum, then rush off to Tintagel. But staying right here? You get the village after the day-trippers leave, which is honestly magical. I could hear the River Valency from my room – not loud enough to keep you awake, just this gentle background sound that’s way better than any white noise machine. The rooms themselves feel properly comfortable, not fancy for the sake of it, but everything works and feels thought-out. The bed was actually good (you’d be surprised how rare that is), and there’s decent storage space, which sounds boring but matters when you’re unpacking for more than a night.

What really gets me about this place is how the staff seem to genuinely know the area. I mean, they pointed me toward this incredible coastal walk that starts practically from their back door – not the obvious tourist route everyone does, but this quieter path that takes you up above the village with these views that’ll make you stop walking and just stare. Plus, they sorted out dinner reservations at the Napoleon Inn without me even asking, which saved me from wandering around hungry at 8pm when everything good was already booked up. The breakfast was proper too – local stuff where possible, and they didn’t rush you out the door like some places do. Honestly, for a 4-star place with a perfect rating, I was half-expecting it to be all style and no substance, but Paradise House delivers on both fronts. If you’re planning to explore this part of Cornwall properly rather than just ticking boxes, this is exactly where you want to base yourself.

  This property is beautiful! The gardens and house were exceptional and everything we needed for a couple of days away as a family. We travelled as two families with 5 children and we were all in heaven. From the moment we stepped through the door, we felt our shoulders drop and we instantly relaxed. The surrounding areas were outstanding for walking and the views from the coast path are incredible. We recommend walking up to Bostcastle Farm Shop for brunch, lunch for Cornish tea – fantastic!
