Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Orchard House? It’s tucked away on Elmsleigh Road in this quiet residential part of Wadebridge that most tourists completely miss – which is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re actually living somewhere rather than just passing through. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the town center and all the cafes along Molesworth Street, but when you’re sitting in the garden here, you’d never know it. The only sounds are birds and the occasional dog walker chatting to their neighbor over a garden fence.
The self-catering setup is what really makes this place work, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights. The kitchen actually has everything you need (not just a kettle and a prayer), and there’s a proper Tesco just down the road if you want to grab supplies. What I loved was being able to walk down to the little butcher on Duke Street and actually cook something decent instead of surviving on pub meals every night – though honestly, the Bridge on Wool is right there if you get lazy. The rooms have this comfortable, unfussy feel that reminds me of staying at a well-organized aunt’s house, if that makes sense. Everything’s clean and thoughtful without being overly precious about it. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped.
Here’s the thing about Wadebridge that makes staying somewhere like Orchard House brilliant – it’s perfectly positioned for exploring North Cornwall without the tourist circus of places like Padstow or Rock. You can drive to Daymer Bay in fifteen minutes, hit the Camel Trail literally from the town center, or even walk to the old railway bridge if you’re feeling ambitious. The local knowledge piece that took me a while to figure out: if you’re planning day trips, the A39 can get properly jammed during summer holidays, so having that quiet base to retreat to becomes even more valuable. Plus, parking here isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the coast. Actually, that’s worth mentioning – you get proper parking space, which might sound boring but trust me, after circling Padstow for twenty minutes looking for a spot, you’ll appreciate it. The whole experience just feels more genuine somehow, like you’re getting a slice of how people actually live in Cornwall rather than the postcard version.

Property was exceptionally clean comfortable and spacious. Steve our host who welcomed us on arrival had thought of everything. It was the best self catering property we have experienced. The welcome hamper which included a cream tea was much appreciated and added a lovely touch on our arrival.
