You know what struck me first about Ocean Views 4? The location is honestly perfect – perched right on Mount Wise, which sounds fancy but is actually just this lovely residential street that curves up from Newquay’s town center. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the main beaches, but far enough up the hill that you escape all the summer chaos below. The building itself has that classic Victorian guest house charm (white painted exterior, those tall sash windows), though they’ve clearly put some serious money into updating the inside without losing the character.

The views are legit – and I’m usually skeptical when places put “ocean” right in the name because half the time you need binoculars to spot water. But from the upper floors here, you’re looking straight out over Newquay Bay, and honestly, watching the surfers catch waves at Fistral Beach while having your morning coffee is pretty unbeatable. The rooms feel properly thought out too, not like someone just threw together whatever furniture was on sale. Good bed linens, decent shower pressure (crucial after a day on the beach), and they’ve actually included enough plug sockets – small detail, but you’d be amazed how many places miss this. The 4-star rating feels accurate; it’s comfortable and well-run without being stuffy or trying too hard to impress.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how the staff actually know Newquay. When I asked about quieter beaches for an early morning walk, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the obvious tourist spots – he mentioned this little path down to Towan Beach that most visitors never find. Parking can be a bit tight (there’s a small car park, but Mount Wise street parking fills up fast in summer), so I’d recommend checking about spaces when you book. The breakfast was solid – proper Cornish bacon and they source eggs locally, though the dining room gets pretty lively when it’s full. If you’re the type who needs perfect silence with your morning meal, grab a table by the window early. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me; it’s one of those places that gets the fundamentals right and adds enough personal touches that you’d actually consider staying again. Plus, being on Mount Wise means you can walk down into town for dinner and drinks, then climb back up feeling virtuous about the exercise – well, that’s what I told myself anyway.

  Parking was tight which we knew from other reviews but I have a ford Ranger pick up truck and only issues I had were when other people didn’t park correctly. Wifi is terrible and apartment is like a bunker, I made sure when booking wifi was available as I had work to do while away but had to go a cafe and connect to my phone. Even Netflix on the tv buffered non stop. But over all apartment was clean tidy and had everything you needed with the exception of wifi or phone signal. Location is great literally a 5 minute walk to the main area which was great, I may be wrong in saying this as I didn’t do a lot of research so unsure how price compares to other accommodation but I did think it was a little on the expensive side. But I want to take nothing away from the apartment as it was lovely, just needs to have better wifi, for reference download speed was 1.22 Mbps and upload was 0.51 Mbps.

  The location was great, just in town but not so much that you'll have the road / night life noise.
  Felt very private and secure.
  Fantastic apartment with plenty of space and storage. Washing liquid, tea, auger was all there that we could use.
  Great smart TV with PlayStation. Can connect phones, watch TV, Netflix etc.
  Very happy.
  
  What could be improved: Can't say there's anything we disliked.
  Only thing that I could say was missing, was an ashtray for the smokers of the group. Nice outdoor / balcony area though, used a disposable cup instead for them.

  The location, layout and facilities were excellent. I particularly liked that you could access the apartment from the side door.
  
  What could be improved: The car parking is rather tight, glad i dont have an suv. The hot water wasnt working but Aimee sorted that very quickly and we found a charcoal pizza in the oven.

  Great location, really nice apartment and well kept. The beach and town center was only down the hill and the apartment was comfy, spacious well decorated and had all the necessitates needed.
  
  What could be improved: The parking was not great with the spot provided i was not able to get my car in (BMW 4 series) so had to find alternative parking on a road nearby. The lockbox was a bit stiff to open and the WIFI was not the best, at times being slow.
