You know what? I’ve walked past 3 Rose Terrace in Gweek probably a dozen times before actually staying there, and honestly, I was kicking myself for not booking sooner. No3 Gweek sits right in the heart of this tiny Cornish village – and I mean tiny, we’re talking about a place where the pub, post office, and seal sanctuary are basically your main entertainment options. But that’s exactly what makes it brilliant.

The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about this place. The owners have managed to strike that perfect balance between proper comfort and not trying too hard to be fancy. I mean, it’s got four stars for a reason – the bed was honestly one of the best I’ve slept in (they’ve got these gorgeous linens that feel expensive), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually has decent pressure. The whole place feels thoughtfully put together rather than just decorated from a catalog, if you know what I mean. There’s local artwork on the walls, books about Cornwall that look like they’ve actually been read, and those little touches that make you feel like you’re staying in someone’s carefully curated home rather than just another B&B.

What really won me over though was the location – Gweek might not sound glamorous, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Helford River, and the seal sanctuary is right there if you’re into that sort of thing (which, surprisingly, I totally was). The village itself is proper quiet – the kind of place where you can hear the river at night and maybe some sheep in the distance. Parking’s actually decent too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Cornish villages with a car will appreciate. During the day, you’re perfectly positioned for exploring the Lizard Peninsula without the tourist madness of St. Ives or Padstow, but you can still get to Falmouth in about twenty minutes if you need a proper town fix. The owners seem to know everyone in the village and were brilliant with recommendations – they pointed me toward this little coastal walk that I never would have found otherwise. Honestly, with a 9-point rating, No3 Gweek delivers exactly what you’d hope for: a genuinely comfortable base in one of Cornwall’s more authentic corners, without any of the pretentious nonsense you sometimes get with boutique places.

  Simply and tastefully decorated . Fabulous bathroom and shower. Light and airy, with comfortable beds and welll equipped kitchen Handy village store closeby.

  Everything, it is a stunning little house in a postcard perfect village. Beautifully decorated and perfect for kids. I can’t recommend this enough, perfectly located for trips to Kynance Cove and Lizard Point. The Black Swan is a must, food is excellent.

  Good dining and living areas and functional kitchen. Good sized bedrooms. Very good bathroom. Host available to deal with issues as they arose.

  The property was very welcoming and homely. We had everything we needed and loved the open plan spaces downstairs. The hosts were very accommodating and kept us well informed.
  
  What could be improved: It is hard to find fault. The only very small criticism i would say is that the floors in the main bedroom were dusty.

  Delightfully peaceful as we are still off-season, easy stroll from the door steps to the seal-sanctuary, along the boat yard, easy escape to the park across the road for the dog. Gem little grocery store across the road for fresh bread and little local treats..
  
  What could be improved: Departing ! …really its one of these rare rentals where one would like to extend one's stay, the place feels grounded, confers a kind of serenity, relief from the usual hectic pace of life. No.3 Rose Cottages has been furnished with kindness and generosity towards the guests, nothing is missing….Naturally one needs to be fit for the little fly of stairs, up to the sole toilet and bedrooms. The bedding and pillows are just perfect, all was clean and pleasant to use. I hope the owners will be graced with mindful visitors remembering that the owner is lending us her home too..Many appreciative thanks and recommendations.
