You know what struck me first about No 1 The Paddock? It’s one of those places that actually lives up to its photos – which honestly doesn’t happen as often as you’d think. This isn’t just some cramped holiday rental with a fancy name; it’s genuinely spacious, and when you’re traveling with family or a group of friends, that breathing room makes all the difference. The hot tub is the real showstopper though – positioned so you can soak while looking out over the countryside, and trust me, after a day exploring the North Cornwall coast, you’ll appreciate every bubble.

The location is pretty clever actually. Kilkhampton isn’t one of those tourist traps where you can’t find parking and everything costs double, but you’re still only about ten minutes from Bude’s beaches. I mean, you get the best of both worlds – the quiet village feel where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of traffic, but you’re close enough to pop down to Widemouth Bay or Summerleaze Beach whenever the mood strikes. The house sits on Penstowe Road, which is residential enough that you won’t have crowds wandering past your windows, but it’s not so isolated that you feel cut off from everything. There’s decent parking too, which matters more than people realize until they’re driving around seaside towns in summer looking for a spot.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to detail – and I don’t mean fancy throw pillows (though those are nice too). The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to cook, the Wi-Fi works properly throughout the house, and the beds are comfortable enough that you won’t spend your holiday nursing a sore back. It’s those practical things that separate a good stay from a great one. The 9.7 rating isn’t just people being generous either; when you combine the space, the hot tub, and being within striking distance of some of Cornwall’s best coastal walks, it delivers exactly what it promises. Plus, if you’re into exploring beyond the obvious tourist spots, Kilkhampton gives you easy access to the South West Coast Path – you can walk for miles along dramatic clifftops without fighting for photo opportunities with tour groups.

  Lovely bright and airy house, really well considered little touches like toys/ stair gate/ tommee tippee and welcome hamper as well as a really well equipped kitchen. Loads of bedding and towels.
  
  We had a little trouble locating the property as it’s just inside the holiday park and some construction going on on the small development the house is in, but we called the host and she answered immediately.
  
  We were a family of 6 adults, 2 children, a baby and a dog and the house felt spacious enough for all of enough and we were lucky to get a sunny Easter Sunday so made the most of the garden and hot tub.

  When we arrived the property felt light and airy. There was a hamper which we felt was a lovely touch and a manual of what you need to know about the property.
  The location was quiet despite being on a building development but then again we did stay over the weekend.
  We loved the garden, especially the hot tub. We were lucky with the dry weather in the afternoons so could make use of it.

  Beautiful house, lovely modern decor- I've even just bought the neom defuser as it smells amazing.
  It's been a beautiful stay and the hot tub to finish the nights off was just perfect.
