The thing about staying here is you’re literally steps away from all the holiday park amenities – I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and be at the entertainment complex or swimming facilities. But here’s what’s clever: the retreat accommodation feels separate enough that you’re not dealing with kids running past your window at 7am (well, most of the time anyway). The rooms themselves are properly done up – none of that tired holiday park décor you might expect. Actually decent beds, and the bathrooms are modern enough that you won’t be grimacing when you brush your teeth. Parking’s straightforward too, which honestly matters more than people realize when you’re hauling suitcases and beach gear around.

What I really appreciated was the location within Newquay itself. You’re close enough to Fistral Beach that you can hear the waves on windy nights (in a good way), and getting into the town center is dead easy – about a 10-minute walk to the main shops and restaurants.
