You know what really hits you first about this place? It’s the fact that you can actually hear the waves from your room – and I mean properly hear them, not just some distant ocean whisper. The Newquay Fistral Beach View sits right on Pentire Avenue, which honestly is one of those streets where you immediately think “okay, someone knew what they were doing when they built here.” You’re literally a two-minute walk from Fistral Beach, and if you’ve never been, well… it’s the kind of beach where serious surfers come to play, but also where families spread out picnics without feeling out of place.

The pool situation is actually pretty brilliant – they’ve managed to create this outdoor space that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. I mean, you’re in Cornwall, so obviously you want to be at the beach, but there’s something nice about having that option when the Atlantic decides to be particularly Atlantic-y (you know how it gets). The rooms have this sort of understated coastal thing going on without being all nautical-themed and cheesy about it. What I really appreciated was the balcony situation – most of the rooms have decent-sized ones where you can actually sit with your morning coffee and watch the surfers getting ready down at the beach. There’s this whole morning ritual that happens around 7 AM where the serious surf crowd heads out, and honestly, it’s better than television.

Parking can be a bit of a dance during peak summer – Pentire Avenue gets pretty busy, and everyone’s trying to get to Fistral – but the hotel sorts you out with spaces. The staff actually know their stuff about the area too, which sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how many places just hand you a generic leaflet. They’ll tell you things like which path down to the beach is less crowded, or that the Rocket café does the best pasties if you’re heading toward town (and they’re right). The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be some fancy resort, but everything works properly and feels looked-after. That 8.9 rating makes sense when you factor in that you’re getting proper beach access, a pool, and rooms that actually have character, all without the price tag of those massive hotel chains that have sort of taken over other parts of Newquay.

What really seals it for me is the location on the Pentire headland – you get those proper Cornish coastal views without being stuck in the middle of the town center chaos. During summer evenings, you can walk along the coastal path toward Crantock, and it’s one of those “oh right, this is why people move to Cornwall” moments. The whole setup just works, you know?

  Excellent location and excellent well equipped apartment with great view from balcony. My wife liked the pool and I liked the view and central location to great beaches, walks and headlands.

  The property is in a fantastic location, only 5-10 minutes away from Fistral Beach. It's clean and well-equipped with everything you'd need, including a private swimming pool. Gyozo made our stay enjoyable and took really good care of us, checking on us and ensuring that everything was alright during our stay. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

  The location is amazing, the pool is heated and has a good wind protection glass wall with a view to Fistral beach. The room is well equipped with everything you would need. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. I can highly recommend.

  The location of the property is very scenic, access to staff was just a call and the property was very organised and clean. The pool was clean and warm.
  
  What could be improved: The beds were a bit uncomfortable. In future the pool area should be covered especially for the kids because the wind made them shiver quickly although the pool was heated.
