Hotel Description

You know what really struck me about Newquay Bay? It’s actually positioned perfectly on the quieter end of the bay – close enough that you can walk to Fistral Beach in about ten minutes, but far enough from the main strip that you’re not dealing with the late-night party crowd stumbling past your window. I mean, don’t get me wrong, Newquay can get pretty lively (especially during summer), but this place gives you the best of both worlds.

The hotel itself feels like someone took a traditional seaside property and gave it a proper modern makeover without losing its character. The rooms have that crisp, coastal vibe – lots of whites and blues, decent-sized windows that actually open (you’d be surprised how many places seal you in), and honestly, the beds are fantastic. I’m usually a light sleeper, but the soundproofing here is solid. What really impressed me was the attention to details that matter – proper hangers in the wardrobe, enough plugs by the bed, and a shower with actual water pressure. The staff genuinely seem to know the area too, which makes a difference when you’re asking about tide times or whether that little café down Fore Street is still doing their famous pasties.

Here’s the thing about location – it’s not just about being near the beach (though you are). You’re actually within walking distance of some spots the typical tourist websites don’t mention. There’s this brilliant little independent bookshop called Harbour Books that’s tucked away, and if you head toward the harbor, you’ll find some excellent fish and chips that locals queue up for. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare in central Newquay during peak season, but the hotel sorts that out for you, which honestly saves both money and stress. The breakfast is proper good too – none of that continental nonsense. They do a full Cornish that’ll set you up for a day exploring the coastal path. I’d say book well ahead if you’re planning a summer visit because places like this (the ones that actually get it right) fill up fast. The 9.5 rating isn’t just tourist enthusiasm – it’s earned.

Lovely stay, caravan had everything we could have possibly wanted and was very clean and well looked after! Towels, cooking utensils, crockery, tea, coffee, sugar and even fresh milk in the fridge when we arrived. There was a towel, bowl and blanket for our dog left by the owner. Lesley was amazing, very easy to get hold of and responsive.
