You know that moment when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, this is exactly what I needed”? That’s what happened the second I stepped into this penthouse at Compass Point. I mean, the photos online looked good, but actually being there – with those floor-to-ceiling windows framing the entire sweep of Carbis Bay – honestly took my breath away. The apartment sits right on Boskerris Road (which, if you know the area, puts you literally steps from that gorgeous stretch of beach), and from the main living area you’ve got this unobstructed view that changes completely throughout the day. Morning coffee with the sunrise hitting the water, evening wine while watching surfers catch their last waves – it’s the kind of setup that makes you want to cancel all your dinner reservations and just stay put.

What really impressed me, though, was how thoughtfully everything’s been done. The kitchen actually has proper appliances (not those tiny holiday rental things that barely work), and there’s enough space to spread out without feeling like you’re living on top of each other. The master bedroom opens right onto a private terrace – I spent way too many mornings out there in my pajamas, watching the boats head out from St Ives harbor in the distance. The second bedroom’s perfect for kids or friends, and honestly, the whole place feels more like a really well-designed home than a typical rental. They’ve even sorted the parking situation, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Carbis Bay in summer will tell you is absolutely crucial. I will say the stairs up to the penthouse level might be a bit much if you’ve got mobility issues, but the payoff is so worth it.

Here’s the thing about this location – you’re far enough from the main St Ives chaos to actually relax, but close enough that you can walk to Carbis Bay station and be in the thick of things in five minutes. The beach below is never as packed as Porthmeor or Porthminster, especially if you head down early morning or later afternoon. And if you’re into the whole surfing scene, Gwithian’s just a short drive when you want bigger waves. The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s one of those places where every detail works, from the WiFi (actually reliable) to the shower pressure (surprisingly excellent) to the fact that they’ve got proper blackout curtains so you can sleep in after those long Cornish summer days. Trust me, if you’re looking for that perfect blend of luxury and authenticity right on the water, this is it.

  Artistic Interiors, very clean and like the scones and cream on arrival. Amazing breathtaking views of the Carbis Bay with the sound of ocean in your ears. A lot of light and positive vibes in the apartment. Would definitely recommend and book it again. 5 mins via train into St Ives and just so convienient
  
  What could be improved: To be careful walking upwards from the Carbis beach towards the apartment can be a steep walk and taxing for unfit people like me 🙂 else there is nothing not to like about this place. Just wonderful.
