Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “holiday park” I was expecting something a bit… well, dated. You know those places with tired caravans and questionable carpeting? Mawgan Pads completely flipped that assumption on its head. These aren’t your typical static caravans – they’re actually really thoughtfully designed pods that feel more like modern beach houses than anything you’d associate with a traditional holiday park. The moment you walk into one, there’s this sense of space and light that catches you off guard in the best way.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed the balance between being part of something bigger (Sun Haven has all the facilities you’d want) but still feeling like you’ve got your own private slice of Cornwall. The pods themselves are honestly impressive – proper kitchens where you can actually cook a decent meal, bedrooms that don’t feel cramped, and these lovely big windows that make you feel connected to the coastline even when you’re inside. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Mawgan Porth beach, which is one of those gorgeous Cornish bays that somehow manages to feel both dramatic and sheltered at the same time. The beach faces west too, so if you’re into sunsets (and honestly, who isn’t?), you’re in for a treat.

Here’s what I really appreciate though – the practical stuff just works. Parking right by your pod means you’re not lugging suitcases across a massive site, and the whole check-in process is refreshingly straightforward. The location is actually brilliant for exploring this part of Cornwall without feeling like you’re stuck in the middle of tourist chaos. You’ve got Watergate Bay just up the coast if you want the livelier surf scene, but Mawgan Porth itself has this lovely laid-back vibe where you can actually hear the waves at night (which, let’s be real, is why we come to Cornwall in the first place). The local pub, The Merrymoor Inn, does proper food and pints, and there’s a decent little shop for essentials without having to drive into Newquay every time you need milk. That 9.5 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen – you can feel it in the attention to detail, from how clean everything is to the way the whole place feels like someone actually cares about your experience rather than just processing bookings.

  The location was excellent and allowed my family to explore the area. The home was bigger than I had expected and that was great. There was more than enough space for our family of 6 to chill out. The home had everything we needed and even had some games for the kids. It was located at the end of the site so was exceptionally quiet which was also great.
  
  What could be improved: Some surfaces in the kitchen/dining room were not clean and still had some crumbs over them however the rest of the home was clean.

  location is remote peaceful. beautiful surroundings
  An hour drive if you want to travel most western side.
  spacious. a lot bigger than usual smaller static caravans.

  The location is beautiful, and the lodge is very spacious and homely. The mattress in the double room is so comfortable, we didn’t want to get up in the mornings!
  
  What could be improved: We were very aware that it is the end of season, so not a complaint at all, but the kitchen was lacking in some utensils for cooking, the single mattresses in the second bedroom were uncomfortable. We couldn’t get the shower over the bath to work (might have been us), so we all used the ensuite. The shower head in there is quite large and the pressure is quite low. Might be better with a smaller shower head. And the gate needs fixing. These are all little things, so nothing that would stop us from coming back.

  Spacious, clean and well equipped! Probably the best location on the site too. 5 minute drive to Mawgan Porth beach or 20 minute scenic walk.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing! Just a couple of things need attention (the front gate and the shower head!) but to be expected at the end of the season.
