Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Marazion Hotel – it’s tucked right into The Square in this tiny Cornish village, and from the outside it looks fairly unassuming. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need to shout about how great they are. This 4-star spot has that rare quality where everything just… works.
The thing about Marazion is that it’s basically the gateway to St. Michael’s Mount – you can literally walk across the causeway at low tide, which is pretty magical if you time it right. The hotel knows this, obviously, and most of the front-facing rooms give you proper views of the mount rising out of the bay. I mean, you’re paying for that view, but it’s worth it when you wake up to see the morning light hitting those ancient stones. What really got me though was how the staff actually knew the tide times off the top of their heads – not just checking an app, but genuinely living by the rhythm of this place. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake.
The rooms themselves have that boutique hotel feel without being overly precious about it. Good linens, decent shower pressure (always important), and thankfully they’ve managed to keep some character while updating the essentials. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak summer – The Square gets pretty congested with day-trippers heading to the mount – but the hotel sorts you out with spaces round the back. The restaurant downstairs does solid modern British food, though honestly, with Marazion’s location you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to fresh seafood. I’d recommend grabbing a pint at the Godolphin Arms just down the road if you want the full local experience – it’s where the lifeboat crew drinks, and you’ll get the best gossip about which fishing boats came in that day. The hotel’s 9.4 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed there; it’s not flashy or trying too hard, but everything from check-in to checkout feels thoughtful and genuine. Plus, being right in the village center means you can actually walk everywhere instead of dealing with Cornwall’s notoriously narrow lanes in a rental car.

The location and the views. The room was beautiful, and we loved the responsive low lighting in the bathroom for nighttime visits. The food was wonderful, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The free parking was a real bonus.

We had the room with a view to St. Michael‘s Mount – and it was fantastic! If you can afford the extra cost, do it!
The room, bed and bath was also very good. The location of the hotel was very close the harbour and causeway. Parking is easy. The Dinner in the hotel‘s restaurant was also very good.
