You know what caught me off guard about Manor Court? It’s tucked away in this gorgeous converted manor house in Gulval – honestly, I drove past it twice before spotting the entrance because it feels more like you’re visiting someone’s elegant country estate than checking into accommodation. Apartment 18 sits within Kenegie Manor, and the whole setup has this understated grandeur that’s refreshingly unpretentious for Cornwall.
The location is actually brilliant once you get your bearings. Gulval is one of those villages that locals love because it’s close enough to Penzance (literally a five-minute drive) but far enough out that you escape the summer crowds. I mean, you’re practically neighbors with the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, which most tourists never even hear about, and the coastal path to Newlyn is right there if you fancy a proper walk with views that’ll make your Instagram followers properly jealous. The manor itself has this lovely lived-in feeling – thick stone walls that keep things cool even when it’s blazing outside, and you can actually hear the countryside at night instead of traffic, which was such a relief after London.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail that you only notice after staying a few days. The apartment feels spacious without being cavernous, and whoever designed it clearly understands that travelers need proper lighting for reading and enough surface space to actually unpack. The kitchen is well-equipped enough that I ended up cooking most evenings – there’s a brilliant little farm shop just down the road in Gulval that sells the most incredible Cornish cheese and local vegetables. Parking is straightforward too, which sounds boring but honestly, after wrestling with Penzance’s narrow streets during peak season, having a guaranteed spot felt like luxury. The 9.9 rating makes complete sense when you experience how smoothly everything runs – check-in was seamless, the place was spotless, and when I had a tiny issue with the Wi-Fi, it was sorted within an hour. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere special without the fussiness that often comes with four-star properties. Perfect base for exploring West Cornwall properly, and I’m already plotting my return visit.

The apartment was very spacy, clean, bright, quiet, and well-equipped. Communication was perfect and fast…there was nothing at all that we could say was negative. We would stay here again without a doubt!

No 18, Kenegie Court apartment where we stayed was very clean and comfortable. It had all that we needed to make our stay a very comfortable one. A home away from home.
What could be improved: The Kenegie Court holiday park facilities was not what we expected as advertised. The pool was closed on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The restaurant wasn't open since they didn't have a chef. Only provided sausage rolls pasties and pizza which could be pre-ordered.
