Hotel Description

Honestly, I almost walked past Low Tide on Bedford Road – it’s tucked into this gorgeous Victorian terrace that you’d never guess houses something this special. The flat sits right in the heart of St Ives’ old town, which means you’re literally a two-minute stumble from the harbor (and trust me, after exploring the local pubs, that proximity matters). What struck me first was how quiet it actually is inside, despite being surrounded by the town’s bustle. You know what they say about location in St Ives – it’s everything – and this place nails it without the chaos.

The boutique styling here is thoughtfully done, not that trying-too-hard kind of trendy you sometimes get. Someone clearly put real effort into the details – the lighting actually works for reading, the shower has proper pressure, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. I mean, it’s still St Ives so we’re not talking sprawling, but it’s cleverly designed. The kitchen area surprised me with how well-equipped it is, which comes in handy since decent breakfast spots fill up quickly during summer months, and frankly, some of the tourist-trap cafes nearby aren’t worth the queue. From the windows, you catch glimpses of the town’s rooftops and that particular St Ives light that artists go mad for – it really is different here, especially in the late afternoon.

What I appreciated most was how the place feels connected to St Ives without being kitschy about it. You’re close enough to hear the seagulls (they’re loud, fair warning) and the gentle sounds of people wandering the cobbled streets, but far enough from the main Wharf Road tourist drag that you’re not dealing with crowds under your windows at 7am. The walk to Porthmeor Beach takes about five minutes if you know the shortcuts through the back lanes, and honestly, having a proper base to retreat to after a day of gallery-hopping and beach time makes all the difference. Parking can be tricky around here – that’s just St Ives reality – but the location means you can dump the car and forget about it for your entire stay. For a 4-star place with a perfect rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for: a genuine St Ives experience without compromising on comfort.
