You know what caught me off guard about this place? I was expecting just another seaside rental, but honestly, Lovely Cottage on Falcon Terrace feels more like staying at a friend’s perfectly curated beach house. The location is actually ridiculous – and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Summerleaze Beach, which means you can hear the waves from the cottage windows when it’s quiet in the evening.

The thing about Bude that most people don’t realize until they get here is how walkable everything is, and this cottage sits right in the sweet spot of it all. Falcon Terrace itself is this lovely little row of period houses that somehow missed all the tacky coastal development – you’ve got proper character here, with those thick walls that keep things cool during summer days and the kind of windows that actually open properly (small detail, but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong). The canal is practically on your doorstep too, which is perfect if you’re into those gentle morning walks or if you’ve got kids who want to spot the swans. I spent way more time than I expected just wandering along the towpath with my coffee.

What really sets this place apart – apart from that perfect 10 rating, which honestly feels earned – is how thoughtfully it’s been set up. The kitchen actually has everything you need (decent knives, proper coffee maker, enough plates for a group), and there’s this cozy sitting area where you can plan your day or just collapse after a long beach walk. The Wi-Fi works properly too, which matters if you’re trying to upload all those coastal photos or need to check the surf reports. Speaking of surf, Summerleaze is great for beginners, but if you’re more experienced, Crooklets Beach is just a short walk north and tends to have better breaks. The cottage gives you easy access to both, plus you’re close enough to Bude’s little town center that you can grab fish and chips or hit up one of the pubs without needing to drive anywhere. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak summer – most of these terraced streets are pretty narrow – but it’s manageable, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you probably won’t need your car much anyway. The whole area just has this relaxed vibe that makes you want to slow down and actually enjoy being on holiday instead of rushing around ticking boxes.

  Lovely old cottage with everything you need for a week. Perfectly located for everything we needed -beach, walks, pub, shop -and the host was very helpful and easily contactable. Lovely cream tea to greet us on arrival.

  Pretty little cottage, nicely decorated and exceptionally clean. Bude is a super location and the cottage is so close to the beach, canal walks and the town. Owner very friendly and helpful. Had a super stay!

  The location is fantastic, 5 minutes to the beach (with a 5 year old). 5 minutes to walk to restaurants and shops. Perfect for boat rides or going crabbing at high tide.
  
  The owners are amazing, and were on hand to help out with any questions, they have thought of everything you might need for your stay. For example, a stool in the bathroom so little ones can use the sink, Netflix on the TV so that when little ones wake up at 5.30/6am there's a away to entertain them while you have a fresh pot of coffee, a washing machine and dryer, a shed full of bodyboards and buckets and spades…. The list goes on. The welcome of fresh scones cream and jam was such a lovely touch.
  
  Parking is easy, Joe the owner has a little spot that he saved for us, we left the car there for the whole trip and it was perfectly safe and free.
  
  We had such an amazing time staying here, I honestly wouldn't stay anywhere else next time I'm in Bude. Absolutely perfect for a young family that just want chilled out days on the beach.
  
  What could be improved: This is not the owners fault, but we partly booked this location because it was very close to the only rapid EV charger in Bude based in the tourist information centre. However the EV charger didn't seem to be working. So just something to consider if you're planning on charging your car near this property.
