Hotel Description

I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Little Valley View in Hayle, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard hotel building. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you, and this 4-star spot absolutely did that.

The thing about Hayle is that most people just drive through it on their way to St. Ives (which is only about 10 minutes up the coast, by the way), but they’re missing out. Little Valley View sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to pop over to the tourist hotspots but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the summer madness that hits places like Penzance. The staff actually seem to know what they’re doing here – check-in was smooth, no weird upselling attempts, and they genuinely seemed to care about whether you had everything you needed. I mean, that sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how many places get that wrong.

What really won me over was the attention to detail that you don’t notice until you’ve been there a day or two. The rooms are properly quiet – none of that thin-wall nonsense where you hear every conversation in the corridor. The beds are actually comfortable (not just “hotel comfortable”), and honestly, the view situation is better than the name suggests. You’re not exactly overlooking some dramatic valley, but there’s something really peaceful about the landscape around here, especially in the morning when the light hits just right. Parking was straightforward too, which matters more than you think when you’re lugging suitcases around. The whole place has this lived-in feeling – not shabby, just… well, like real people have stayed here and enjoyed it, rather than some sterile showroom.

The location is actually pretty clever when you think about it. You’re a proper walk from Hayle’s town center (maybe 15 minutes if you’re moving at a decent pace), but that means you’re away from any street noise. Plus, if you’re planning day trips – and honestly, you should be, because this part of Cornwall is brilliant for exploring – you’re positioned really well. St. Ives is right there, you can get to the Minack Theatre in about 45 minutes, and some of the best coastal walks in Cornwall are practically on your doorstep. The staff were pretty good about local recommendations too, pointing me toward a couple of pubs I never would have found otherwise.

Look, Little Valley View isn’t going to blow your mind or end up in some fancy travel magazine, but that 8.6 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there. It’s the kind of place that just works – good value, properly run, and in a spot that lets you actually experience Cornwall rather than just tick off the tourist boxes. If you’re looking for somewhere solid to base yourself while you explore this part of the coast, you could do a lot worse than this place.

Everything was perfect including the weather.

What could be improved: Cannot think of anything!

    all good

What could be improved: all good

  • Barbara from United Kingdom – 23 September 2024 (9/10)

Lovely property, loved the views, comfortable, clean and nicely furnished and equipped. We didn't use the patio area due to the weather. Super little pub nearby with great food. Good location. We had a great time, would definitely rebook.

What could be improved: Being set on a very steep hill was a little challenging, but we overcame that. Also having just a toilet in a cupboard, due to the only bathroom being an ensuite is something that would be ok for a family, but not so good for two couples, I think. But it works.

  • Zaid from United Kingdom – 22 August 2024 (9/10)

The views, the location and size of accommodation.

What could be improved: The mattress for the single beds were very thin.

  • Olena from United Kingdom – 14 July 2024 (9/10)

The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. The property offers a beautiful view of the fields and the railway. Both the bathroom and the bedroom are spacious. It's surrounded by stunning natural scenery.

What could be improved: The master bedroom had a double bed, which felt a bit too small for a couple. The mattresses in the second bedroom were quite soft and made loud noises. I'm confident these issues can be addressed if needed.

  • Sanjib from United Kingdom – 9 June 2024 (8/10)

Excellent and stunning clean, very organised.
Host was very helpful, kept good communication from the day before until we arrived. Provided a comprehensive briefing and showed us where all the stuff etc.

What could be improved: The bathroom is attached to the main bedroom. So it may feel a bit awkward if you are accompanied by a friend or two couples share the property. It’s best for a large family with 2/3 children.

  • Philip from United Kingdom – 19 May 2024 (8/10)

Excellent location with lovely views across a valley towards an impressive railway viaduct.

What could be improved: The property is at the top of a very steep hill (hence the great views).

  • Gary from United Kingdom – 11 November 2023 (9/10)

What could be improved: Bathroom very cold
